Page 12 of Demanding Mob Boss

"Mr. Hotty McHotterson brought me up when I told him I was coming to have lunch with you."

"Cian brought you up?" I ask, a little jealous she's remarking on his hotness.

Which I shouldn't be. I don’t own him and I know that's just Ini. It's not like she wants to date him. Does she?

"I think I'm the hottie she's talking about," Lachlan says with a smirk.

Oh. Relief floods me, though I don't know why. "Thanks for bringing her up."

"Any time." Lachlan winks at Ini. "It was my pleasure."

Ini tosses her braids and gives him a flirty smile.

Wishing I had half her confidence, I show my roommate around the office, and introduce her to Connor. "No wonder you like working here. You've got plenty of eye candy."

I laugh, but I never think of Connor or Lachlan as being all that good looking. Ini is practically drooling though. She wants to know if Lachlan and Connor are single. I have to admit I've never asked.

My boss isn't married, or dating, according to his sister, but I've got no clue about the other men at the company.

Cian comes out of his office as I'm confirming with Connor that he doesn't mind getting the lunch order today.

"Nah, I got this. You girls have fun."

"Join us for lunch," Cian says. It sounds like an order, though I know he meant it to be an invitation. "We're going to the pub on the corner."

"We are?" Connor asks, then coughs. "Uh, yeah we are. Their cook is my mam's friend and she makes a wicked Shepherd's Pie."

"I thought you Irish liked your corned beef and cabbage," Ini teases.

"Hers is pretty good, but it's not a patch on my mam's. Ma brines her own beef."

"Sounds yummy," Ini says doubtfully. I don't think either of us has ever brined anything. She looks at me like it's my decision whether we join my boss and coworkers for lunch.

We've ordered food from the pub before, but I haven't been there. I don't know how crowded it usually is. I was hoping to get something from a food truck and take it to eat at the park. But if Cian's going, I don't think even a crowded pub will bother me. I enjoyed lunch at the Greek deli after he showed up and sat down next to me.

When he's close to me, the only thing I smell is him. The only body that registers with my senses is his.

"Lachlan, you coming?" Cian yells.

Lachlan comes out of Cian's office, talking on his cell phone. He clicks off. "Shea'll be here in a minute."

I smile up at Cian. "It looks like we're all going."

He nods. His gaze drops to my chest. Something warm sparks in his eyes. He does that a lot, but no more often than he looks at my face. He seems to like when I smile. I like smiling at him, so it works. I smile now.

Lachlan shoves Cian toward the elevator. "Let's go."

We're walking toward the pub, when Ini sidles up close to me and whispers, "Your boss was checking out your rack back there. And you didn't seem to mind. You smiled at him, Anna."

I shrug. When other men look at my body, it feels creepy, but not Cian. When he stares at my chest it makes me feel warm and tingly. I want to know if he likes what he sees, but I'll never have the nerve to ask. When he's looking, his expression shows nothing but blank calm.

He's good at that.

"Do you have a thing for him? Because if you do, I think the feeling is mutual."

I don't know how to answer that. Do I have a thing for Cian? I feel things for him I've never felt before, but I don’t know if I could be intimate with him like a man would expect from his girlfriend. And why am I even thinking like that?

Even if he likes looking at me, that doesn’t mean he wants to date me.
