“He did beat himself up over her, for a very long time. But the one thing I can say aboutBitter Babeis that he’s good at getting second chances. And this time he is never letting Chloe go. That’s a promise. He’s done with failing people.” Jordan swallowed down tears. “I’m sorry, Dad. I was in no fit state to launch Laguna Beach and I should have said so. You gave me your trust and I failed you.”

A few months earlier, Jordan and Chloe had flown to New York, and he’d officially introduced the woman he loved to his parents. During their visit, they’d spent some precious time with the Royal family and cleared the air over the events of the past year. From the reactions of Edward and Alice, they were both clearly devastated to hear the truth about Jordan’s breakdown.

Edward shook his head. “No. I was the one who failed. I should have seen your pain, and that you were struggling, instead I just pushed you to keep going. If anyone is at fault here it’s me. When you are back on the East Coast, I’d like you and me to carve out some time together. Let’s sit down and have a real conversation about what you went through last year. There are lessons I need to learn. Then maybe we can talk about what you might want to do with your life, going forward.”

“Thanks, dad. I think I have an idea about my future, but first I want to take Chloe away and just let her relax.”

Chloe’s revenge song ended, and she took some more questions from the press. No she wouldn’t be writing a tell-all book, some things were best left in the past. The rumors of a Netflix reality series were also not true. But yes, she was working with an up and coming French fashion designer on a Chloe range of clothing, all based around the theme of Chloe’s Garden.

“Thank you, that’s all the time I have to answer questions. I have a dozen suitcases still left to pack, and a hot man waiting.” When she flashed a grin in Jordan’s direction, he laughed.

Chloe left the stage and headed toward him. Jordan met her half way. She slipped her hand in his. “I know we have a dinner planned with your family later this evening, but in the meantime could we go back upstairs to our suite? I want us to be alone for a while.” He bent his head and she spoke softly in his ear. “And preferably naked.”

Jordan placed a warm, tender kiss on Chloe’s lips. “Absolutely, Ms. Fisher. You know I can never resist such a suite temptation.”

EPILOGUE

The Royal family’s private island

The sunny Caribbean

Christmas Eve. A jingle bells sunset.

The setting sun painted the horizon in a gold, pink, and orange hue. Above in the heavens, the first of the evening stars twinkled their welcome at her. Chloe’s gaze lingered on them, then lowered to take in the gently rolling waves.

It was amazing how much her life had changed over the past year. This time a year ago, she had just left her accountant’s office having been given the news that she was facing financial ruin.

And now I am digging my toes into the sand of a Caribbean island.

At the sound of footsteps she turned, smiling as she took in the sight of Jordan making his way down the nearby stone steps and onto the beach. The fading light shone on his white linen shirt and denim shorts. He looked like one of those men out of a health commercial. The after picture.

Jordan was soon to take up a newly created position within the House of Royal. Securing collaborations with artists across the global brands. He would have a team working on the day to day management of those contracts which would allow him the freedom to travel with Chloe and support her career and musical endeavors. It would also give Jordan the space to maintain his mental health and take time out when he felt it was needed.

“Hey, you,” said Jordan, giving her a friendly wave.

“Hey yourself.”

She greeted him with a long tempting kiss. But not too tempting, his family is due to arrive any minute.“Has the jet landed?”

“Yes, and they are now on board the boat. Which means Bryce and Vivian will be here within the hour.”

Bryce and his fiancée were joining Jordan and Chloe on the island for the Christmas holidays. Matthew was still in Colorado but planning to make it in a day or two, weather permitting. The rest of the US based family members would be arriving in time for New Year’s. Camille had gone home to Paris to spend the holiday season with her parents. According to Chloe’s nowBFFa ceasefire in the family row had been declared. How long it would last past Christmas Day , was yet to be determined.

“I’m looking forward to a family Christmas. It will be my first.” Chloe’s voice broke a little at the end. A real Christmas, with people who genuinely loved one another. She’d never dare imagine what that might look like, but she was about to experience it for real.

Jordan tucked his hand into his pockets and came to stand alongside her. “The sunsets here are amazing. Remind me to take some pictures for your Instagram feed. And mine.”

Chloe laughed. “Your Instagram account is private, and you only follow one person. I still can’t believe your profile is @bitterbabenyc. You are a sucker for punishment.”

“Yes well, @chloefisherofficial was already taken. And you only follow one person as well.”

It was a silly, hopelessly romantic thing being the only followers of each other’s accounts, but it still made Chloe’s heart do a little dance every time she checked the app.

She gave a contented sigh and rested her head against Jordan’s shoulder. “This is the happiest I have ever been in my life. I don’t know if it is possible to be any happier.”

“Oh,” he murmured.

“What does that mean? Oh.”
