“That’s all you guys. I get this one to myself tonight.”
I rounded the bar, ignoring the groans from my friends, and grabbed Katie’s hand. “What do you mean?” she whispered, flicking her eyes to Simone, but she didn’t let go.
I leaned in, brushing my lips against her ear. “It means I just want to spend time with you alone, kitten. Is that okay?”
She shivered and nodded, letting me guide her off the stool while Simone whined that it wasn’t fair. With a shrug, Katie weaved her fingers with mine and let me lead her back to my office. I closed the door behind her, turning as she settled into my desk chair with a contented sigh.
“So?” She practically hummed it, kicking her feet onto my desk.
I lifted an eyebrow, sitting on the edge of my desk and looking down at her. My chair looked so much better with her in it. Her dark hair in a ponytail draped over the back of the leather and her torn jeans revealing just a peek at her soft skin.
“So what?” I ran my eyes over the jeans and simple black tank top she wore, a grin pulling my lips to one side when I landed on a smudge of dirt on her neck.
She blushed, tracing the condensation on her glass. “Why did you want me to yourself?” When she closed her mouth around the straw, she took a long gulp. I followed her throat when she swallowed, and my stomach stirred with excitement.
“Maybe I’ve learned I don’t dislike spending time with you as much as I thought I did. Call me crazy, but judging by the lovely blush on your cheeks, you may like spending time with me too.”
She followed my hand as I set my glass on the desk and reached for hers, not hesitating to hand it to me. I took her hand and pulled her to her feet, so she stood between my legs.
“You’re my best friend’s brother, Auston.” She leaned into me even as she said it.
“I know.”
“And you have spent the last eleven years irritating the hell out of me.” The giggle she peppered between the words stuck with me.
“I know.”
She took a step until our thighs were pressed against each other. “But I think I like spending time with you too,” she whispered.
“Come here.” I trailed my fingers down her sides and around to her lower back, tugging until her body was flush against mine.
She closed her eyes slightly when she took a deep breath. “You smell really good.”
She hummed, releasing her breath, and my dick started to swell. Pressing her nose to the crook of my neck, she inhaled again before running her tongue along my neck to my jaw. I wrapped my fingers in her hair, her lips close enough to mine that I could almost taste the sweet vanilla of her lip balm when the door flew open.
“You better not be fucking in here.” Logan didn’t stop the door from hitting the file cabinet before turning his attention to us and cocking his head. “Judging by the looks of it, if I’d come in five minutes later…”
Rolling my eyes, I tightened my hold on Katie to stop her from stepping back. I wasn’t done feeling her pressed against me. “You could’ve knocked.”
“You could’ve fucked her at your place.”
“She’s standing right here, you goddamn cockblock!” Katie interrupted with a burst, throwing her hands in the air. I snorted, unable to withhold the laughter.
Logan’s eyes were wide and filled with amusement. “Okay, I get it now,” he said.
Katie’s raised eyebrow mirrored mine, and we both stared at my best friend. “What the hell are you talking about?” I asked him.
“I just mean, look at your girl, my dude. Since when does a woman like that go for a guy like you? Now I realize she puts you in your place. It makes sense.” He shrugged, as if answering a question he’d been stewing on for days.
“Ha-ha, so funny.” I rolled my eyes, but Katie giggled against me.
“He’s not wrong. I do put you in your place.” The cocky look on her face matched the one she wore every time Andy took her side during one of our arguments, and I grumbled.
If anything was true about Katie, it was that she had happily put me in my place since the day she’d met me, much to my sister’s enjoyment. I’d let her continue if her eyes lit up like they were right now.
“You can put me in my place all you want, kitten.” She shot a wide-eyed look from me to Logan and back, reminding me he was behind me, as if I’d forgotten the entrance he’d made.
“Okay, okay. If you can save it for later, I could use your help out there.” His eyes were wide, and a nervous swirl settled in my stomach.
