TWO DAYS LATER

I'm lying on the day bed under the shade of the tree in the back yard of the house we’re staying in. The sound of the ocean, the soft breeze blowing over my skin, and Noah wrapped around me where he has been since we arrived here from the wedding.

A vision just flashed back into my memory.

I sit up, startled, and look down at him on the bed.

“Hey, I just remembered something. When we were leaving the wedding, did you see Badger and Jodie walking down the stairs onto the sand and darkness together?”

Noah just looks up at me and smiles.

Bastard, he knows something, I’m sure from that look.

“Shit, what did I miss? Spill the beans!” I need to find out pronto.

“I promise I don’t know anything, but good luck finding out. This is Badger we're talking about. The king of secret lives.” Noah laughs, pulling me back down onto his chest.

“Have you met me? I never give up!”

“And I’m grateful for that every single day, beautiful.”
