But it proved difficult since a piece of my body had also reacted to her fingers all over my thighs. And fuck, was I close to satiating my desires.

Close to making a mistake. A mistake because it’d never happen again.

I clenched my fist when my thoughts moved to Sarah. My heart instantly swam to my guts. I hadn’t seen her in seven years.

The last time I saw her, she was on the brink of an arranged marriage. One she was averse to.

But it seemed like the arrangement was favoring her. Her much chubbier body and expensive apparel were telltale signs. I was glad for her.

Her sudden appearance in my life not only reminded me of my past. But also how I might not have been the perfect brother. And son to my parents.

Bringing my eyes from the documents on the table, my fingers found my hair, in its usual motion of frustration. Fuck, I was nowhere near perfect and I knew it.

If only I had-

No. It was too late. It had all happened.

I let the distant tick of the clock interrupt the unwanted memories. And for a brief moment, I felt still. The calm before it had all plunged to ruin.

Forcing my eyes open, I glanced at the clock again. The time for my personal meeting with Mr. Reynolds was drawing nearer.

Every other thing faded away as I stood up, adjusting the hem of my grey suit. It was time to secure a deal with the billion-dollar real estate firm.

Fred was already waiting for me at the garage beside the white BMW 760Li. I was already taking a liking to him. Four years of working with me and he had never been tardy.

Not once.

“Good morning, sir.”

I nodded in response. In no time, we were on the way.

A few minutes passed and we reached the skyscraper.Reynolds Real Estate. The most successful of them all in New York.

Once I got in, a short man approached me. “Good day, Mr. Knight, I am Mr. Reynold’s assistant and I’m-”

I drowned out the rest of his words, studying the ambiance of the reception. It was welcoming. The receptionist’s eye contact and warm smile were a good first impression.

As I trailed behind the assistant, I nodded approvingly at every other detail. It took a great deal of hard work to get to this stage. I knew that very well.

And I could only commend Mr. Reynold again.

I had seen him a couple of times, at certain functions. And we had interacted quite a number of these times.

Even though it was just formal greetings and handshakes.

Now, I was here for a legal service partnership. I reached out a few weeks ago requesting a meeting regarding the partnership.

Blanchard Legal worked with many prominent companies in different fields, partnering with reputable law firms outside of New York. And my vision of global scaling was slowly coming together.

But this deal was more than an added advantage to our portfolio. I liked to think of it as a strategic push. One that could bring the vision closer, because of its global reputation and the more than tangible percentage we’d gain from the deal itself.

More than a lot could be achieved just with this deal.

Though a global firm, Reynold’s real estate somehow lacked a solid presence in the U.S. I had done my research and studied the firm. The majority of their client base was external investors.

And for unknown reasons, I liked to explore other opportunities outside the state.

I was going to leverage our nuances and bring this deal home. However, it was rumored that the man had a quite unorthodox way of doing things.
