It seemed as if the air suddenly ceased and the temperature increased. I was hot. Incredibly hot.

Averting my eyes from the lines that creased his forehead, I trained them on a certain empty spot. My legs were suddenly wobbly as he raised both hands to cage me.

Only our breathing filled the air. No words. No reply to his question.

I shut my eyes when I saw his hand move. I didn’t know what I had expected. But it certainly wasn’t for him to move a stray tendril out of my face. He slowly leaned closer. Or was I imagining it?

When I felt his hot breath on my forehead, I knew I wasn’t. My body tingled with familiar sparks as his hands moved from the walls down my cheeks to my waist. Each touch left me more breathless than the last.

Déjà vu filled me.

This was certainly not how I had expected it to go. But why was I yielding?

His eyes seemed darker. I didn’t know whether it was from anger. But they held a familiar glint. One I could only trace back to that night.

Slowly I watched his lips grow closer until they met mine. It was a light, feathery one at first. Until he tugged my waist closer and deepened it.

Familiar shivers jolted my body when his tongue parted my lips.

He angled his face to deepen the kiss, and I tangled fingers in his soft hair. My hands soon wrapped around his neck when his fingers trailed the length of my spine. I moaned when I felt his thick bulge against my stomach.

Somehow, again, I instantly wanted it inside of me.

His hands tugged my legs around him and in no time, I was balanced on his waist. My back against the walls. A moan escaped my lips when his fingers grazed my soaked panties. All thoughts of anyone finding us flew out of my head when he rubbed against my clit.

My hands hurriedly trailed his hard chest as I ground for more friction. The kiss became fiercer as he increased the pressure. But just before he could plunge through my entrance, the elevator dinged.

Fuck.

My daze cleared as the elevator suddenly opened, sending me scampering to the other end. As I hurriedly adjusted my clothes, he furrowed his brows at me. Maybe he didn’t know we had company.

His fist clenched and his eyes shut to steady his breathing before he turned. Hopefully, whoever it was thought his messy hair and rumpled clothes were from the unseen hand of nature.

When he turned, his mood did a complete three sixty. His back tensed, his posture instantly became rigid and his jaw followed suit.

Uh?

I quickly halted the ride. I’d never seen him like this. I’d never seen him so... surprised? No, surprise wasn’t the word. Surprised people didn’t have rigid postures, they were the opposite.

…caught unaware?

Steadying myself on my toes, I peeked behind his shoulders. And I narrowed my eyes at the frame of the woman in the hallway. She looked like any normal person so why was he-

“Damien.” Her voice was cool with a bit of pitch.

Damien? They were on a first name basis?

“Sarah.”

His tension eased a little. With slow, calculated strides, he walked up to her. From here, I couldn’t hear what they said.

But it wasn’t much as Damien nodded stiffly before entering his office.

Tentatively, I stepped out of the ride. I suddenly wasn’t sure if I should have witnessed that. Or if she had witnessed our shenanigans. Her long, dark hair bobbed behind her in a ponytail before she stopped in front of me.

“Hi, I’m Sarah....”

She had an oval face with bangs covering her forehead. A straight nose that rested on red lips. And eyes that were oddly familiar.
