My new beginning had begun. All I wanted now was her in it.
A smile tilted my lips when I found it. A bouquet of red roses. It sat in the middle of all. Right in the centre of the shelf.
Elegant, beautiful. Yet bold and fierce.
The only item that described how I saw her… the only item that described how I truly felt. Love.
After paying the cashier, I ignited the engine before turning on the music. Country music filled the space as thoughts of her filled my mind.
All this I felt– all I’d been feeling was love. I couldn’t deny it anymore– I didn’t want to.
She made me want to be better. She made me want to forget my past and look to the future. Somehow, she’d given me hope.
Her presence. Her scent. Her warmth… Her little fiery spirit. I wanted it all.
I wanted it forever.
I arrived at the— our mansion. Pushing past the doors, I ascended the flight of stairs. A few months ago I’d roamed this house with an unbearable weight of emptiness.
But now, I was welcomed by the lingering smell of her peachy scent. I reached my room to pull my suit when my phone rang.
It was Renee.
I hurriedly picked it.
“Renee,” Her name rolled off my tongue smoothly.
Fuck I missed her.
“Are you home?” she breathed.
“Yes,” I nodded. “Where are you?”
The distant sound of cars didn’t seem much like the ambiance of a graveyard.
“Out with Sarah. Could you search the vanity in my room for umm... Sarah’s black card?”
I grunted. “Okay,”
I wanted her here. Not with Sarah.
Shuffling out of my room, I headed to hers, opening the door.
My hands found the vanity as I searched for it. But there was nothing. It was all neat except for a white envelope.
I raised it to find nothing still.
“No.”
“Thank you,” she breathed before ending the call.
Inhaling more of her scent, I moved to drop the envelope when some documents spilled out.
Instantly, I spotted a familiar logo. It was the logo for Vox Wave Media. One of the top media companies.
My brows furrowed as a strange feeling of dread settled in my guts. I lowered myself to pick it up.
The first face was blank with the exception of the logo. So I turned it around.
