Damien had pleaded with me to stop working. According to him, the only work I had to do was to pop his babies. I didn’t agree. But once I finally found justice for Mae, and after many more pleas from Damien, I came to a compromise: Working part-time.
Mae…my smile widened. I could still recall her expression of happiness when we won the case.
According to the court’s judgment, Sean would pay fines, and be on probation with community service for a year.
Honestly, I missed work. The stares weren’t as condescending as before. And Jack, well, he avoided me like the plague.
God knows whatever Damien did to the poor guy.
A frown soon replaced my smile when I recalled I hadn’t gotten my usual good morning kisses from Damien today.
He’d rushed out of the house, saying he had urgent meetings to attend to. He’d never done that before.
But I let it slide since a few hours later, he’d sent Fred to deliver a box, along with a note stating to have dinner with him at 6 p.m.
Dinner…
I hurriedly walked to where I’d kept the box. Opening it, I found a lovely emerald green dress. It was long-sleeved with a deep V-neck.
After my tummy, his second favourite part was my chest. He’d gotten overly obsessed with it, saying he liked the new size even more.
I smiled, slipping on the dress, before turning to the mirror.
The dress was perfect, revealing an ample amount of my cleavage and clinging to my curves.
I rubbed a hand over my protruded belly. I was four months already and my excitement to meet my unborn grew each day.
We’d decided not to do any gender reveal until the actual delivery date.
Glancing at myself again, my smile grew wider. The girl staring back at me was happy. Content. Satisfied.
I’d found love. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
“Girl, you look so freaking beautiful.” I turned to see Sierra, staring at me with mouth agape.
The love in her eyes was evident. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend.
Sierra had accepted me without judgment when I returned. She hadn’t cared that I left her and even remained out of reach to her.
All those don’t matter. You’re here now.
She’d said that with a smile when I finally got over the guilt and visited our old apartment.
“Spin,” she smirked, placing one hand on her waist.
She seemed genuinely happy, and I knew it spanned beyond this moment.
Her casual fling, David, had asked her to be his girlfriend. She accepted and finally told him about the medical concern with her family.
After transferring her mother and brother to a more standardized hospital, they performed surgery for her mother’s breast cancer, and she was finally cancer-free.
Her brother also was ten times better and was living much healthier.
Anytime from now, Sierra would move in with David. They had plans to tour the world together.
I twirled and shook my head when she relinquished a small squeal. “Everything checked. Dress, body, and all.”
I didn’t know when I reached her and pulled her into a hug; well as much of a hug as my belly would allow.
