His fingers curl around my neck, and I shudder, bucking against his leash. "So tell me, Caterina, will you take my knot?"
Chapter43
Rina
He's just as much of a madman as Klaus. I see that now, and I'm more glad than ever that I mated with my gods.
Spitting out, "I have my mates already," I close my eyes, reach for the leash Teller has around me, and tear myself away from it.
It feels like the mind-bendy version of tearing my entire body out of a block of ice. Once it's done, I'm back in my wolf form, racing behind the guys towards the battlefield.
Only they need to be warned. Loping ahead, I shove between the warriors and reach out to Adar.
You to get your people to safety right now.
He doesn't understand at first.I can take Klaus. I'm not worried.
Trust me,I tell him, pushing at the bond.We have to save them. This isn't going to end well, so just do as I say.
Shockingly, he does.I'll get them to safety. But I have to fight for them first. Do we have enough time? I'm guessing you've seen the future again.
We have a little bit of time, but not much.
I'll use it wisely.
As the woman hands Klaus the wellspring, he thanks her. Then he turns towards Teller, and they silently exchange a look.
The wellspring reaches out to connect to Klaus.
In the same moment, Thale summons his nature powers, but the bloodrot here has weakened the land so much he can't do much of anything. Adar throws a fireball at Klaus, but Teller's shields come up smoothly as he connects to the wellspring.
Ali screams, "I'll make a hole!"
I watch with bated breath as she tears one open big enough to let one, maybe two of us through.
So I join myself shoulder-to-shoulder with Adar and we leap into the fray.
As Teller unleashed his powerful magic, killing the werewolves closest to him, Adar tells menow!
I don't know at first what he's going to do.
Then I feel him stop time. It's just like it was when he stole the key to the Elder Tombs, only even more powerful, as if he's drawing on all the magic inside his body.
I can feel him draw that magic. And just like I've reached into the elements with the guys to channel power with them, I find that I can do the same now.
Except with the mate bond it's a hundred times more powerful.
Together, we freeze time. Adar and I shift to human form, and we start to grab werewolves at the edge of the shield.
One by one, we push them through the hole Ali made. They stumble through, confused but thankful, as time crawls around us.
Because Teller is pushing back against our magic. He's fighting to kill as many of the Fury Pack as possible.
Adar tells, "Hurry, we can't keep this up long."
I nod, but I don't need to be told. I can sense it through the power we now share. I reach for the young members, for the children at their parents' feet, for every werewolf I can help.
Outside the shields, Ali seems to have some awareness of the time loop as well. She holds the shield open for us. Her eyes glow so white that tears spill from them, and I realize with alarm that she's weeping magic.
