That’s when I see a drop of blood on his pristine white shirt.

“Mak, check on the girls.” She rushes out of the room, leaving me alone with this unknown vampire.

“I would love a proper introduction before taking this trash out.” I smile sweetly at the bitch and extend her arm further to put pressure on her shoulder.

“Erik can not marry that.” She hisses out, and I laugh.

“You really don’t like your health. Who are you?” I growled in her ear as I dislocated her arm.

She howls as I let her go, and she falls to the floor.

“Lady Mathis, may I introduce you to Baroness Sylvia Saxon.” If that title was supposed to impress me, I make sure she sees it doesn’t.

“How many times has she tried to fuck my husband?” Gaius chuckles at my question, but I raise my eyebrow at him.

“Oh, you’re serious. Hmm, let me think.” He taps his shin and looks at the ceiling.

“I see. So, who should I send our condolences to?” He grins at me while Sylvia pulls her arm back into its socket.

“My, you still have an air for the melodramatic, don’t you.” Oh, that’s how she wants to play it.

“I’m not sure what makes you think that you know me. I assure you that this version is very different.” I step closer to her, and she takes advantage of it, pulling me into her and sinking her fangs into my neck.

She pushes me away with a bloody smile.

“Good luck making it to the wedding now.” My rage takes over, and I shift, ripping the gown in the process.

Sylvia screams and backs away. She tries to run, but Gaius blocks her only way out. I growl at her.

“You really should work on your impulse control, Sylvia. I do find it funny, though, since you were not privy to the information that you would assume a bite from a vampire would kill Lady Mathias.” I snap my jaw at her, and she backs into a wall.

“Gaius, please.” She pleads to him and whimpers as I get within inches of her throat.

I’m on my hind legs with my paws against the wall on both sides of her head. She smells horrible, and I sneeze in her face. She yelps in fear, and then I get it. I’m smelling her fear.

“I would try apologizing, but how do you say you’re sorry for attempted murder? I’d make peace with God, Sylvia, but I’ll give you some insider knowledge.” He moves closer to her and whispers in her ear.

“He’s not listening,” I bite her jugular and rip away from where Gaius is standing.

Blood sprays everywhere as Sylvia grabs what’s left of her neck.

My white fur is covered in the war liquid, and it pisses me off. I back away and try to calm down enough to change back. I shake my head when nothing happens.

“Nico, we could use your assistance,” Gaius calls into the main store.

“Erik will cut my balls off if I see her naked.” He grumbles as he enters the room with his hand covering his eyes.

“Uncover your eyes, fido. We have a shifter situation. I think she’s stuck.” He points at me.

“Merda,” He looks around and grabs a robe from a hook.

He steps over Sylvia, who has passed out. I can still hear her heart beating so, unfortunately, I didn’t kill her like she meant to do to me.

“Have you called Erik? She needs to feel safe. What the fuck happened?” Gaius pulls his phone out and kicks Sylvia, who yelps and gets Nico’s attention.

“Maledetta stronza,” Nico growls as he wraps the robe around me as best as possible.

“Erik, I’m putting you on speaker.” I look at the phone and whine.
