“You always were and always will be my princess. Nothing will ever change that.” He steps away from me, his eyes not leaving mine. It takes all my strength to force myself to turn around and follow Neil out of the building and to the car park.
As he drives me home, I try everything to forget how gorgeous Daniel looked and how his lips felt against my now warm cheek. I can’t let that man break me again; I refuse to. As much as it will pain me, I know the best thing would be never to see him again.
Chapter Four
Daniel
Fuck, that couldn’t have gone any worse if I fucking tried. I lean back in my desk chair and flick through my phone before pulling up the number I need.
“Hey, what’s up?” Oli answers on the fourth ring.
“Gabriella saw me tonight.” No point beating around the now-dead bush.
“Fuck, where? I fucking told you to stay away from her place!” he yells.
“She was in Euphoria. She had a run-in with some drunk fuckers who are currently being taught what happens if you don’t respect women.” None of those pricks will walk without aids for quite some time.
“Was she okay?” I hear her brother ask as I make my way to my mini-bar and pour myself a small whiskey, wishing it was larger, but it looks like I’m now driving myself home.
“Yeah, but she now knows I’ve been back for a while.”
“Take it she knows that I knew this.”
I throw back my drink before wiping my mouth with the back of my hand.
“Yeah, sorry man, I couldn’t lie to her.” I shake my head and put the glass down before returning to my chair behind the desk.
“You never could. That’s why I told you to stay away.” I can hear the anger in his voice, but I’m not sorry for what happened tonight. It was going to happen eventually; I just wish it had gone better.
“I know. If it’s any consolation, she hates me, so she’ll probably never wants to see me again.”
“Yeah, we will see,” Oli sighs. I know he lacks faith in his sister’s ability to stay away from me. Fuck, how I’ve stayed out of her sight for this long is a miracle. I have been watching her from a distance for the three years I have been back. There was no way I could cut all ties entirely with my princess. I needed to see for myself that she was safe and happy.
“How long’s it been since she left?” I hear Oliver ask. I look at my watch and sigh.
“About fifteen minutes; Neil should just be dropping her off at home now.”
“Why’s Neil taking her?” Oli asks. I can almost see him frowning. After a lifetime of being more like a brother than a best friend, there is nothing we don’t know about each other. In a simple conversation, I can tell what mannerisms he is displaying without even seeing him.
“I wasn’t letting her get in a taxi; they aren’t safe,” I point out.
“Fair enough. How much of our agreement does she know about?” I lean back in my chair and pinch the bridge of my nose.
“Nothing. Only that you know I’ve been back for a while. I didn’t put a timeline on anything. I wasn’t about to throw you under the bus,” I reply, rolling my eyes.
“Yeah, I should thank you for that, at least. I’m sure she will bust my balls the first chance she gets.”
A smile spread across my face as I think of my princess riled up, cursing at her brother with her hands on her curvy hips. I feel myself getting hard just from the thought of her. How I managed to hide the boner I had whilst holding her hand, I’ll never know. I was sure my cock would burst from my trousers at any moment.
“Let me know how bad it is,” I reply whilst attempting to reposition myself. I’m fighting a losing battle, and I know it. Nothing short of sinking deep within Gabriella’s pussy will ease this ache.
“I would rather you knew nothing, but I guess that ship has long passed,” Oliver sighs as the guilt sinks in. I know this was the last thing he wanted, but I don’t regret what I did.
“I couldn’t stand back and see her assaulted, Oliver. She looked terrified.”
“I’m glad you didn’t. It just opened the can of worms we’ve been hoping to avoid.”
I don’t bother replying as he knows I wouldn’t have done it without a good cause. There was no way I would stand by and watch those bastards hurt my princess.
