No. I need to stop thinking that way. Luke and Noah aren’t my dad, they would never hurt me like that. Ever. I know that deep inside my tainted heart.
“Speak of the devil, and she will appear,” Luke mutters.
“What?” I look at him confused, wondering why the heck he’s talking about Abby’s dad. But then I hear my name, my eyes find Heather heading this way, and I realize he’s talking about the saying. “Oh, fuck.”
“Good luck, babe.” Luke chuckles, slapping me on the shoulder. “You got this.”
“I hate you,” I hiss with no heat behind the comeback.
“No, you don’t.” Noah smirks. “Remember who you're doing this for. It’s time.”
Letting out a heavy sigh, I nod. This might not seem like a big deal. Luke and Noah ended things with their Heathers. But once word gets back to my dad, he’s going to lose his shit.
“There you are, baby,” Heather purrs when she reaches me. “I’ve been trying to get a hold of you all weekend. You didn’t call me back.” She gives me a pout.
“We need to talk,” I say.
Her face drops. “No.”
“What?” I ask, brows furrowing. “What do you mean ‘no?’”
Luke chuckles and Noah groans from their place nearby. The assholes just love watching me suffer. “I said no. You're not doing this to me, Isaac. I’m not letting you end things with me.”
My brows jump. “That’s not how this works. If I break up with you, it’s over. I’m sorry Heather, but it’s just not going to work. You have to know that I don’t have any feelings invested in this, in you. I’m sorry if this hurts your feelings, and I’m sorry for wasting your time this past year, but we won’t be getting married. We’re not going to be together.”
“No,” is all she says, looking at her nails. What the fuck?
“Yes.” My jaw ticks, anger filling me. I'm trying to be a better person for Abby’s sake, but I’m also thinking about belittling Heather in a much more public setting if she doesn’t get onboard with this breakup. We’re in school and people are watching, but I’m about three seconds away from not giving a fuck.
She looks up at me. “I reject your break-up,” she declares, her face starting to turn red. “You don’t get to do this to me, Isaac. If anyone is to end things, it’s going to be me. And I don’t want to.”
My fist clenches. “Listen here, you crazy bitch. You left me no choice, I’ve been trying to be nice, but listen to me here and now; I don’t want you. I never did. You are nothing but a gold digger. You damn well know you're not in love with me. All you want is power and money. Sorry to break it to you, you're not going to get it from me. Now, fuck off because I have a mate, and I plan on being with her. Not you.”
Her eyes widen. “I swear to our God, that if you say you’re mates with that demon bitch, I will end you,” she snarls.
“Then end me.” I smirk. “Because Abigail Morningstar is my mate. The only woman I ever plan on being with is her. So... Fuck. Off. We’re done.”
“That whore really does get around,” she sneers. “You're going to regret this,” she warns. “I’m going to make your life a living hell. And when you come crawling back to me, I’ll just laugh in your face.”
“Okay.” I roll my eyes. “You do that.”
“Argh!” she screams, stomping her feet like a child before storming off. The other Heathers jump up from their seats and run after her.
“Look at you. Guess you do have a set of balls,” someone jests with a laugh from behind me. I spin around to see a girl. A very tall girl.
“Who the hell are you?” I ask. She’s not from here. Must be a new student. How the fuck did another non-pure blood get accepted into this school? She’s got bright red hair and is covered in tattoos. She doesn’t fit in here at all. But then I see her red glowing eyes and my own widen. “You're a fucking vampire. What the hell?”Did I wake up in some kind of alternate universe?
“If you don’t watch yourself, I’ll be your worst fucking nightmare.” She takes a step closer, almost meeting me in height. “If you hurt Abby again, I’ll end you, Angel Boy. I’ll strap you to a chair and pluck every little feather from your pretty set of wings.” She grins, her fangs on display. Chuckling, she runs her tongue over them. “I’ll sink my fangs into your neck and suck you dry, until you're nothing but a lifeless corpse.”
“You’re fucking crazy,” I grunt, a little in shock.Who is this woman and why does she care so much about Abby?
“You have no idea just how crazy I can be, Angel Boy.” She laughs. “Just remember what I said.” She winks before shoulder checking me as she passes.
I watch as she walks over to Abby’s table, taking a seat across from her.
Abby smiles, a small blush taking over her cheeks. What the fuck just happened?
“Who was that?” Noah asks as he and Luke come to stand at my side.
