EPILOGUE
NINE MONTHS LATER
Porter
After we’d gotten backto the ranch, we soon learned that Keira was carrying our child. Finding out that Keira had been pregnant while she was imprisoned by Luciano had to be the second worst punch to the gut, knowing how much more I almost lost that day. When we came back to the ranch, Keira put her own touches on everything and then after finding out she was pregnant she added a few more touches for our bundle of joy.
Presley and Evangeline had flown in and thrown her a baby shower a couple of months back with all the girls that Keira had come to know. They had made sure that we had at least one of everything you could possibly need for a baby. I tell ya those women had so much stuff they gave her; I couldn't see my living room floor when I got home that day. But I was happy to see my beautiful wife so full of joy, knowing what it was like for her for the first time to have real friends in her life. Ones that cared about her and not about what she could do for them. It was a beautiful sight.
We had gone on a last-minute vacation to Fiji just prior to the shower before Keira was unable to travel anymore. It was so relaxing... until my son decided that Mc Donald's cheeseburgers was his new favorite thing to make his mommy crave. Of course, we had chosen the one place to go that there was none, cutting our trip short by a couple of days. Lucky for me there was one in town at home. I made so many trips there, I half expected my son to come out looking like Mc Hamburglar.
When I was released from the military to come back home, I thought that it was the best day of my life, but I was wrong. The best day of my life was the day my loving wife gave me a son. "He's so beautiful baby, you did a good job, mommy." I told her as I rocked Braxton in my arms and kissed her.
"We did do good, didn't we?" she said, smiling up at us.
"I'm going to take him out to the waiting room, so everyone can see what a handsome boy he is. I'll be right back, okay?"
"Okay, hurry back."
As I made my way out to the waiting room, I heard a bunch of yelling and joking going on as one of the nurses tried to tell them to quiet down. Chuckling to myself at my friends, I shook my head, knowing that those guys just couldn't go anywhere without causing a shit scene.
When I came around the corner, all the noise died off and the ooh's, and awes commenced. The women rushed up first and took turns holding the baby as my brothers congratulated me and handed me cigars that I'd never smoke. "He's so handsome, just like his daddy What's his name?" Presley asked, drawing a dirty look from Hudson. "Oh stop, you know I think your way more handsome," she said, winking at me.
"We named him Braxton."
"A handsome name for a handsome boy," Presley cooed, kissing his head.
"How's Keira holding up? When can we see her?" Evangeline asked.
"She's doing great. You can all go in and see her in just a bit, but I had better get this little guy back to mommy, I'm sure he's going to be getting hungry soon. I'll have the nurse come and get you when we're ready for visitors in the room." I assured them before heading back into the room.
"There's my baby boy and handsome husband," she said with outstretched arms.
Placing Braxton in her arms so she could feed him, I asked. "Can you believe we made this beautiful baby boy?"
"He is beautiful, isn't he?" kissing his forehead, she stroked the little hairs on his head. "Did you ever think we could be this happy?"
"I always knew we would be. The day I met you Ker, I knew I had met my wife. And even though we took probably the bumpiest road with the biggest detours to get here, I wouldn't trade this moment for anything in the world." Leaning down and kissing her lips, I told her. "I love you so much."
"I love you more.
