"Are you a mind reader? How can you say that I'm worrying?" I ask him. He holds my hand, we're now walking towards the Field's manor. Obviously, it's a mansion. The victorian style of it adds elegance to the structure.
I look at my daughter and Gloria, walking hand in hand towards the mansion. Grant kisses my palm as he gazes at my eyes.
"Mom loves Lauralee, and I'm sure dad will," Grant assures me.
"Honestly, I wasn't thinking about that. I was thinking about the successful party, but since you reminded me of it… I'm nervous as hell," I glare at Grant, and I pout. "I was fine earlier!"
Grant chuckles as he presses on my nose.
"Hey!" I swat his hand away, and he bursts out laughing.
"You're so beautiful, especially when you're angry," Grant whispers as he hastily lands a wet smack kiss on my lips. I look at him with wide eyes.
"We're in front of your house!" I slap his upper arm. His hold on my hand tightens.
"Who cares, honey? We're getting married. Also, my dad's really nice, don't worry," Grant says as we walk slowly to the house. Lauralee has disappeared from my sight, and I don't know where she is now.
Well, I don't have to worry, though. Gloria's with her.
"Let's go meet dad," Grant says. "But first, don't you want to change clothes? I mean, the gown might be uncomfortable."
"Yes, I want to," I tell him. I need a change of clothes so that I can move without restrictions. This gown's fit won't let me move the way I want.
"I'll take you to our dressing room. It has all kinds of clothes there," Grant guides me there.
After thirty minutes, I managed to finish changing. I can't believe that the walk from the garage to the house is almost ten minutes! And the walk from the house to the dressing room, is more or less, ten minutes.
God, the mansion's so big. My eyes widened when I entered earlier. Even now, I still can't believe that I'm here.
This is the place where my idol lives.
"You look beautiful," Grant praises me. I can only shake my head as I'm getting used to his compliment. He really has a sweet mouth. A glib tongue that can charm anyone.
"Thank you," I reply to him. He keeps praising me even though I'm only wearing simple clothes.
"Where's Lauralee?" I ask as I look around curiously. How can I ever find her with these many rooms?
"Let's go to the living room," Grant says to me.
"Oh, good, they're in the living room. I thought that if it's me, I won't be able to find her," I tell him.
"It still won't be that easy because we have three living rooms," Grant says to me. I look at him, surprised.
"Three?" I ask him. Just how rich are they? I guess really rich since I've heard that they come from old money.
"Yes, one on the second floor. And two here. We have it in the east and west wing, respectively," Grant explains to me.
"Let's go to where Lauralee is," Grant adds. I can't even feel surprised anymore when I pass by some precious antiques. Oh my gosh, the place is practically a museum. I'm scared that Lauralee might break something.
We walk for another five minutes with Grant explaining to me about his family history, and the significance of the items here. Some of them are heirlooms.
As soon as we get closer to a huge door, I can hear people laughing from the inside. In particular, Lauralee's chuckle.
"We should really convert one room here for Lauralee," I can hear a man say.
"I'm also thinking of converting a room as a playroom, so whenever this princess visits, she can play around," I hear Gloria's voice. The man agrees.
Grant smiles at me, and I feel like I can breathe when I heard Gloria, and I'm sure, Mr. Fields, talking.
