He approaches me, his steps light. “Was it to get Miles’s attention?”

I snort. Please. “I don’t care about Miles.”

That’s the whole truth. I never liked him. In the movie, he was unnecessarily mean to his fiancée. In this dream, he’s just as rude and hurtful.

Miles gets a big pass from me, even if he is hot.

Hawk smiles softly to himself. “I almost believe you.”

The elevator opens, stealing my vehement explanation about why Miles’s behaviour towards Kaz, his fiancé in the movie, is toxic and manipulative. The rest of B4 saunters into the room.

Barclay stalks over to Hawk. “Why aren’t you in the infirmary? We—” His words halt when he sees me. “Shanel?”

I lift my fingers in an awkward wave.

Miles’s sneer is instant. “What is she doing here?”

“I got kidnapped.”

Barclay’s eyes gleam. “How sexy…”

Hawk nods at me. “Leave.”

“Not until you apologize.”

He tilts his head for what?

“Kidnapping me.”

His mouth does that twitching thing again. Turning calmly to Miles, he says, “Kick her out.”

“Excuse me? I am not going anywhere—”

“You heard him, Shanel.”

“Don’t you dare lay a finger on me, Miles or I swear I’m going to pimp slap you into the next century.”

Fitz chuckles. “Pimp slap?”

I glare at Hawk’s back. “Is that how you do things? You just treat people however you feel like and because you’re rich, you get away with it?”

“Are you crazy?” Miles hisses.

I jump back when he tries to grab me. “I’m saying what needs to be said.”

Hawk calmly saunters to the fully-stocked bar.

Miles tries to snag my hands.

I shove him away. “Get off.”

He easily drags me out of the room and shoves me into the elevator. I fight all the way, but the guy is built like The Rock with half the charm.

As the doors close, Miles’s dark eyes burrow into me. “What the hell is wrong with you? Go cool off. We’ll talk later.”

“Don’t…” the doors close, “bother.”

I’ll be long gone by then. I slam my hand against the elevator wall. Long gone. And, when I wake up, I’m never watching this movie again.
