“If you miss her, you should let her know.”

I get to my feet. “It’s not that.”

“Then?”

“I’m not sure how to fix this.”

“What broke?”

“Something important.” I stare into the distance.

I still want my hands all over her.

I still want to taste that rich coffee-colored skin.

Want her groans in my ear.

Her skirt at her ankles.

I still want that.

But what happens after that…

After I break her. Destroy her in my bed.

After…

The thought is what bothers me.

Because I need Kaelyn—all of Kaelyn—more than I need her body.

More than I need air.

“You still love her,” Ollie says quietly.

“Yes.”

“Then it’s not beyond repair.” Ollie shrugs. “You chose her. You chose love. So you don’t get to wallow. You get your head in the game and fix what broke. Grab her by the back of her neck and kiss her and fix it.”

I smirk. “That work for you?”

“Hell no. Chandra would have drop-kicked my behind.”

I laugh.

Ollie slaps my back. "You two will figure it out. What I saw—what everyone saw at Brew Drop—was two people who freaking adore each other. If you put in the effort, you can put it back together.”

My phone rings.

Scar’s rousing chorus.

Be Prepared.

Ollie salutes me and heads across the room to another client. I pick up my gym bag and answer mom’s call, knowing its better to just get the conversation over with than to stall and have her show up at my place.

That won’t be fun for either of us.

“Finally!” Mom scoffs into my ear. “I’ve been trying to get you all week.”
