She rolled her eyes adoringly, but speared her fork through the delicious looking cake and brought it up to my lips.

The evening was filled with food, laughter, and sex, and I was glad not to receive any more summons from Behlial. I suspected he was busy trying to figure out how to deal with Abaddon and I failed to rouse any sympathy for my brother.

"Would you like to see some of theAsphodel?" I offered when it became evident that we would have the rest of the evening to ourselves.

Her eyes sparkled. "I would like that."

It took a little while to get cleaned up and dressed, but once Lilith was clothed in the royal black and gold colors, I wanted nothing more than to take them off her. Her excited smile stopped me though; the last few days had been trying for her to say the least, filled with developments and discoveries she obviously hadn't been prepared for.

She would bear a son for this atrocious quest—as all the Nayphyllym had before her, since I had broken my vow—and she would have to endure a styx that would last about three hundred years. The least I could do was bring some happiness to her. Besides the ship's evil mission, theAsphodelwas a piece of art, and I had a feeling Lilith would appreciate the bybliotheca the most.

Guardstraileduswiththeir terrifying gargoyles in tow, and I forced myself to forget their presence when we stepped out of our room.

A short corridor led to theAsphodel'scenter, which I had seen before, but at the time I had been too intimidated and fearful to truly appreciate it. Now that I was with Seth, I had more leisure to look around.

Standing by the railing of a balcony, I looked up, left and right and felt as if I was standing inside a hollowed out ball or moon. Balconies spiraled up, circling each level to lead up to the next.

We were on the ground level and staring up at the far above domed ceiling. It seemed as high up as the sky had seemed when I was on Earth. I tried to count the levels but compromised on estimating there to be at least four hundred floors.

"Come, let me show you the bybliotheca first."

I stopped him. "Can we see something else first?"

He regarded me questioningly. "I thought you would want to see it?"

I nodded eagerly. "I do, but I'm worried you won't be able to drag me out of it anytime soon."

At that, he laughed. "Fair enough. I do have something else to show you that I think you will enjoy."

He led me back through the short corridor and we passed our quarters as he steered me to another hallway that led to a bank of elevators.

Thankfully the guards and gargoyles didn't enter with us, and I assumed they were taking a different elevator.

Soon the elevator's direction changed, and we were going sideways, before going up again.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"It's a surprise." He smiled and looked so much like a boy about to give his girlfriend the world, that I didn't have the heart to prod further.

The elevator doors opened into another hallway. We walked through a short corridor and reached the balcony level. Here, this late at night, only a handful of Daemons roamed about. I took a moment to step closer to the balustrade and was struck by theAsphodel'smagnificence.

We had reached the highest level, and my heart stuttered at the enormity of the ship's structure. I couldn't even fathom how the massive construction was able to fly through space, it was as tall as any high rise I had ever seen, and its width had to measure the same.

I stared at the balcony level across from us and froze, "Seth."

"What is it?"

I pointed across. "Isn't that your brother Azazel?"

He didn't even have to squint. "Yes."

His tone indicated that he didn't know why the sight of his brother excited me so much. Azazel had every right to move through the ship, just like us. That wasn't what caught my attention though. "That girl with him, she is not one of the girls who came with me."

That got Seth's attention. "Are you sure?"

Hadn't he seen the other girls as they were brought in with me and several times thereafter?

As if reading my mind, he grinned sheepishly. "Forgive me, but I wouldn't be able to pick the other girls out anywhere, I only have eyes for you."
