"How long ago did those ancient Greeks of yours live?"
Knowing that BCE and CE wouldn't mean anything to him I estimated. "Between three and four thousand years ago."
"That would be about four or five voyages ago."
I nodded, doing some quick math in my head as well. He was right, if the Asphodel visited Earth about every seven hundred years, they would have been there.
"What other old legends do you Adama's have?"
I knew he was asking in relation to the Daemons' visits and my mind ran through the library I had stacked inside my brain, but too many stories swirled around my head for me to hold on to.
"I need to write this down, this is… just too confusing."
He handed me the tablet that had started all this. With some quick swipes of his hand, he loaded a blank page and handed me a stylus. I refused to think about the similarities in our technologies—or how writing had begun so many thousands of years ago with a flat piece of clay and a stylus—and concentrated on the task at hand.
"So, it's the year, 2023 now… That means the last time Behlial came around was the early 1300s." I clacked the stylus against my teeth while I contemplated a timeline, coming up with something like this.
2023 CE
1300 CE
600 CE
90 BCE
800 BCE
1500 BCE
2100 BCE
2800 BCE
3500 BCE
4200 BCE
I stopped there, because that was how far back the oldest known human civilization dated to and everything before that had been lost over the years. At least to us. Maybe once I found out more from the Daemons history I would be able to add more. A thought that appealed very much to the historian side in me, made me even giddy, forgetting the dark reason behind it momentarily.
Seth asked what BCE and CE meant, and as I explained it to him, my brain was already connecting events with the dates. Like, 600 BCE, the Roman Empire was founded, although I didn't think that this had anything to do with Behlial's appearance.
"TheAsphodelis only one ship, correct? There are no other vessels out there?"
"Not around Adama, no," he confirmed. "TheAsphodel's mission is a solitary one."
"So does the ship always appear at the same spot?" I questioned.
"What do you mean?"
"Earth has many continents and islands. All went through different stages of evolution and civilization. When Behlial arrives, does he always arrive at the same place?"
Seth took the tablet from me and entered something that I assumed pertained to my question.
After a few moments, he said, "No, he always appears in different locations." He handed the tablet to me, and I was able to add more information to my notes.
