Realistically, a restraining order wouldn’t do much. But it gave us rights we might not otherwise have.

“Ash, when you take Sloane to class, take your bike around back and park it inside the back entrance. Put it in the garage while here.” The last thing we needed was his bike messed with. I’d rather her be in the car, but if we were thinking about the worst-case scenario, a motorcycle had the ability to maneuver that a car didn’t. Of course that came with a whole host of other risks, but it felt like everything was a risk right now.

He cleared his throat. “Yeah, I can do that.”

Roman shifted on his feet, the only sign he was struggling. He didn’t fidget. “Where does this end?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean that Sloane can’t be harassed by this asshole forever, and neither can we. It’s no way to live. Based on what he said, it doesn’t seem like he’s just going to go away, so where does it end?”

Silence fell over us, none of us knowing the answer. Finally, I swallowed. “Let’s see what Harrison has to say. For the next few days, while Sloane doesn’t have rehearsals, let’s do what we had planned. Court her, show her exactly how much we want her, and we’ll keep her safe while we do it. We can’t do anything until we know more.”

“Let’s get her a new phone,” Jace said. “New number. That way we can have her phone and he can keep texting it, but she doesn’t have to see it.”

Ash crossed his arms. “Good idea.”

“I was planning on taking her to the aquarium anyway,” he said. “While I’m making those arrangements, I’ll grab one.”

“Aquarium?”

Jace smirked. “Just a hunch.”

I needed to do something else with my energy while Sloane was upstairs planning. I didn’t actually want to run a marathon. Might as well go to my office and channel some of the anger into getting control of the situation at the company. Then, I would take care of my Omega.

“One more thing,” Roman said. “I have an idea, but I want to make sure you’re all on board.”

Ideas for Sloane were my new favorite pastime, and we needed the distraction. “I’m listening.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

________

SLOANE

My room was a big blank canvas, and Addison had about a million and one ideas. She’d peeked in and seen the space when she was here working on my nest. “I nearly salivated and begged Roman to let me design this too, but with the time crunch, thought it was better to wait.”

“That’s the only reason?” Claire asked. She sat next to me, leaning against the wall, watching her Beta with a fond smile.

Addison made a face that told me they’d had this conversation before. “Yeah, yeah. No pressuring people for jobs.”

I leaned my head on Claire’s shoulder, most of my energy gone. Between the wine and Craig? I was ready to curl up in my nest and sleep. But having the perfect bedroom was a nice idea. They had the cliff notes, so they knew why I was low energy.

“Other than your little interaction, how are things going?”

“Good.” My smile couldn’t be stopped. “Better than I thought it could be.”

“And you were worried,” she teased.

“I have other things to worry about now.” A sobering thought. “I know you’re off, but the other cohorts?”

Claire snorted. “Happy to report that Ian is, in fact, still an ass.”

“Perfect.”

“Don’t worry, everyone is ready to handle him onceSwan Lakestarts.”

Addison sat down cross-legged in front of me now that she was done measuring the room. “Okay. So, how did I do on the nest?”
