She winced when Luc dug his clawed fingers into her shoulders, confusion written on his features. “What?”
“Luc,” she blurted, struggling to form a coherent sentence. “We’re running out of time.”
“Oh.” His eyes widened. “Oh!”
“I’ll leave you two alone,” Drasko said. “Don’t worry. I won’t let anyone else come in here.”
She vaguely heard her second alpha leave the tent while she was trapped beneath Luc’s gaze like a rabbit caught in a snare.
Luc’s full mouth parted as his eyes turned into two yellow slits. “Amara.”
That was all it took for her last thread of sanity to snap. She threw off her blanket and pushed him onto the cot, inwardly thanking herself for leaving off those panties as she climbed onto the cot and ground her swollen pussy against him. She gasped when the cot collapsed beneath them, spilling them on the floor. She rolled off him as he spread a blanket out on the floor. He scooted onto the blanket and she climbed on top of him again. With a growl, he ripped off her shirt and sliced through her bra with thick claws before latching onto her breasts, milk pooling around his fingers. Her lips sought his, and they kissed with fevered urgency. As the howling wind outside faded into the background, there was only Luc and her and this carnal need between them. He thrust his hips up, and she broke the kiss, sliding down his erection with a gasp, her eyes rolling into the back of her head after he was seated fully inside her. Digging her nails into his shoulders, she rode him hard as her slick sex smacked against his pelvis. Great Ancients, she’d never craved anything so badly in her life as having Luc fill every swollen inch of her. The feeling was glorious. He snatched her hair by the roots, pulling her back down for another passionate kiss while he thrust upward into her, her pussy gushing with each bruising stroke. She cried out into his mouth when she felt that bloom deep inside just before her body contracted.
Come with me, my love, she cried out in his mind.
He stilled with a roar, and she swore she felt her womb open and welcome his seed just before a rush of powerful orgasms transported her to heaven in his arms. Her body was still contracting as he rolled her over, kissing her passionately while driving into her again and again and again for what would become one of the most glorious nights of lovemaking in her life.

Rone
Rone and Annie sweptup broken glass pieces while Rone’s mother, Mihaela, rocked a fussy Alexi in her arms. Rone’s second-alpha father, Skoll, sat on the sofa with Hrod, scowling while being forced to watch cartoons. How were they going to survive two or three more days of this? At least Amara had found Luc in time. After the satellite had been restored at Luc’s camp, Drasko had called with the good news. The gestation period for Amaroki babies was only five months, which meant by spring their pack would have another baby. Alexi would be forced to share his mother’s attention then, so it was best to move him to the bottle now. If only he would cooperate.
Mihaela tried again to give Alexi a bottle, and he slapped it out of her hand and let out a wail, which was followed by a powerful quake that shook the walls. The dogs howled, Rone clutched the counter, and Skoll jumped from the sofa and grabbed Mihaela before she and Alexi tumbled to the floor.
Their log cabin was built with the sturdiest materials in order to withstand the weight of the Thunderfoot alphas when they shifted into mighty protectors—large, hairy beasts that looked like sasquatches—but he still worried this baby was going to bring the house down. At the very least, destroy all the dishes.
Skoll shifted into a protector, splitting his clothes and letting out a roar as he beat his chest like an ape. The dogs jumped from their bed and ran down the stairs, their tails between their legs. Annie scooped up Hrod and followed after the dogs. Alexi’s lip hung down in a pout and his eyes filled with tears, but at least the house had stopped shaking.
“Skoll, you’re scaring him!” Mihaela scolded, backing away from her mate.
“Good!” Skoll flashed his fangs. “He needs to learn to control his temper.”
Clucking her tongue, Mihaela skirted around her mate and brought Alexi to the sofa. The baby clung to his grandmother while gaping over her shoulder at his grandfather.
Skoll shifted back into his human form and slipped on his ripped sweats and t-shirt. Then he grabbed a beer from the fridge and stomped onto the outside porch in a huff.
“How long do you think he’ll go on like this?” Rone asked his mother after he finished cleaning up the glass.
She shrugged while rocking Alexi. “Drasko insisted on breast only, too, and he took the longest to wean.”
“Why do you think that is?” Rone asked.
She warily eyed Skoll as he leaned against the railing, looking at the lake below. “Because he’s a stubborn second alpha,” she loudly whispered.
No doubt second alphas were known for their stubborn streaks. Drasko was no exception, and now they were all paying for it with Drasko’s baby. Why had the Ancients thought it would be a good idea to bless their family with an earthshaker second alpha?
He gave a start at the sound of tires crunching gravel outside. The Cloudclimbers were finally here! He quickly went to the front porch. Alpha Erik Cloudclimber was helping his mate Cyan out of their truck. Their pack was a few years older than Rone’s pack, and Cyan was in the process of weaning her daughter.
Cyan was a transplant from Texas, average height and build with long, dark hair that went past her butt. Not that Rone had a habit of looking at her butt. He only had eyes for Amara, after all, but Cyan’s hair was unusual and hard to miss. He’d seen her wolf form once and remembered she had long fur, too. Erik had tattoos on the sides of his shaved head and a flat mohawk. He looked like he could’ve been Rone’s older brother or cousin with similar native features. Come to think of it, they were third or fourth cousins.
He held open the door, welcoming them. “Thank you so much for coming.”
Cyan shrugged, her hair swaying like a curtain with the movement. “After all Amara has done for our family, it’s the least I could do for her.”
Rone smiled to himself, proud of his mate for being such a skilled healer. Amara mended many broken bones for the Cloudclimbers. Just as their last name suggested, they liked to climb everything, from trees to sheds to cliffsides, nothing was off-limits, no matter how dangerous.
Cyan crossed over to Mihaela, holding out her hands. “Let me have that stubborn little cub.”
