Hell’s first dimension

Two thousand six hundred and thirty-four years ago

BENNU PRESSED A PALMto the chamber door of the sleeping quarters she shared with her mates, her mind spinning, her heart heavy, her soul shaking with fear.

She curled her hands into fists when Helius and Drakkon’s laughter carried from beyond the door. Heaving a weary sigh, she finally went inside. Her mates were drinking wine by the hearth as they did every night. They both stood when they saw her, beckoning her forward.

Helius arched a brow. “Where are our brothers?”

“With your mother.” She swallowed back her fear, feeling as if someone else was speaking for her as she moved toward them.

Drakkon held a hand out to her. “What’s wrong?”

She took his hand and let him lead her to a chair. She thanked Helius when he handed her a goblet of wine. She looked from one brother to the other, both so incredibly handsome with long black hair, golden eyes, and wide chests corded with muscle. After taking several sips of wine, she clutched the goblet with whitened knuckles. “Your mother had a dark premonition.”

Helius took the goblet and knelt beside her. “What was it?”

“She doesn’t know.” She clung to his hand, afraid if she let go, he’d disappear. “She believes a powerful evil is coming.”

Drakkon knelt beside his brother. “Does she know how to stop it?”

A tremor rolled through her. “No.”

Helius shared a dark look with his brother. “This isn’t good,” he said as he rubbed his chin. “Does our aunt know?”

“Yes, and she’s not taking it seriously.” Bile projected into the back of her throat. “She refuses to call off the meeting with the gargoyles.”

Drakkon growled. “Why not?”

“Because she thinks we’re invincible.” She grabbed their arms, desperately searching their eyes. “Helius, Drakkon, I’m afraid.”

Her eyes fluttered and she released her hold on them when Drakkon smoothed his knuckles down the side of her face. “We won’t let anything happen to you.”

She licked her lips, dry, despite the wine. Didn’t he understand the severity of the threat? “I’m not worried about me.” She didn’t bother masking the rattle of fear in her voice. “I’m worried aboutus.”

“Look at me, Bennu.” Helius clutched her shoulders. “There is nothing, nothing that will keep us apart.”

She shook her head. They didn’t get it. “But what if something does?”

Helius smiled, his eyes glazing over. “Then our souls will find each other again.”

How did she make them understand? Helius handed her the wine again and made her finish the entire goblet. She drank slowly, her head swimming by the time she’d downed the last drop. Still, it did little to soothe her.

She slid off the chair, a hammer of fear striking her chest. “We can’t lose each other.”

Helius smiled, and her heart faltered. He thought she was overreacting. But then shadows fell across his features. “Come here, Bennu,” he commanded, his dark, protector rumble taking over.

She gasped when he swept her into his arms and laid her down on the fur rug beneath him. Flattening her palms against his chest, she blinked up at him. “Sex isn’t going to solve this.”

“No”—he flashed a devilish grin, his eyes glinting crimson—“but it will make you feel better.”

“It would make me feel better, too.” Drakkon knelt beside her and pulled his tunic over his head, revealing thick biceps with swirling flame tattoos.

The wine took hold, coursing through her veins like liquid fire as her mates removed her clothes. They should be preparing for the darkness.

But then Drakkon removed her tunic and her exposed nipples pebbled from the cool air that blew in from the open doorway. Her mates each took a breast and feasted, and then she was lost, too consumed by desire to think of anything else. When their hands roamed her body, thick fingers finding their way into her tight sheath, she bowed up in response, moaning while Drakkon trailed kisses across her collarbone and neck. Her blood, warmed by wine and lust, swelled her veins, flushing her skin.

Helius planted his face between her legs, his long, thick tongue darting inside her weeping flesh, teasing exploring, making her swell with need while his thumb swirled around her tender sex in slow, gentle circles. She wanted to climb the walls. The orgasm came hard and fast, robbing her of breath as she flooded his mouth with juices. Then her spine turned to jelly, and she went as boneless as a fish, but her mates weren’t finished with her.
