When all the men are gone, I move toward the girls again. “What’s happening?” I ask.
Piper’s lips curve into a smile, but it’s Henli who speaks. “It’s a great meeting of the minds, babe.”
“I guess,” I mutter.
“Now, let’s sit down. I have two important questions. One is personal, one isn’t as much.”
“Okay…”
“Do you have a doctor yet? And is the sex amazing?”
My eyes widen, and I make a noise in the back of my throat. “Which one of those wasn’t personal?” I ask.
“The doctor,” she snaps.
It’s my turn to grin. “I don’t have one yet. I need one here. And the sex is out of this world.”
AGONY
Charley and the prospect stare at me from across the conference table. Church will be held in this room in about half an hour, so I need to get this meeting over with. Leaning back in my chair, I let out a sigh as I watch them.
“You’re here for your own shit, but I got some questions as well,” I announce just as Legacy and Roadkill slip into the room.
“Go ahead,” Charley murmurs.
Standing, I turn my back to them and walk over to the window that looks out at the parking lot. Turning my head, I stare at Charley for a moment before my gaze shifts to Justin’s and holds it. If I had to guess, it would be that this guy has a thing for my woman.
“I got a building downtown that I’ve been thinking of turning into a bar. I liked the way you guys did yours when I visited there. Wanted to know if you would take a look at it with me after church this afternoon?”
Charley shifts in his seat. “Yeah, I can do that. You gotta know it’s a bitch to run a bar. You need trustworthy staff, not just a manager and bartender, but also a chef. We had someone in our club who could cook, but we’ve had problems keeping waitresses. And as much as I wish I could have a brother there, they just don’t sell booze the way a woman does.”
Arching a brow, I clear my throat and cross my arms over my chest as I tip my chin down and watch him for a moment. “And Reese?” I ask.
He smirks. “Best waitress I ever had, even pregnant.”
“I’m sure,” I mumble.
“Douglas came in yesterday.”
My spine straightens, and I hear Roadkill grunt somewhere in the background. “What the fuck?” I growl. “You’ve been here for at least thirty minutes, and you’re just now telling me this shit?” I’m pissed, not just a little. I’m fucking livid.
What the actual fuck?
“The fuck is that Justin recognized him immediately, considering he fucking blindsided him and took some cheap shots at him. Not a face he was liable to forget anytime soon.”
“So what the fuck did he say?” I demand. “And did you kill him?”
Charley chuckles. “No, I didn’t kill him. We’re legit now, remember?”
That shit would not stop me, not in a million years. If I get even a sliver of a chance, I’m killing that motherfucker with a smile on my fucking face.
“My question stands.”
Charley shakes his head once. “He came in, looked around, and sat at a pub table for about an hour. I don’t think he was waiting for Reese but rather making a statement. He knew she’d been there, and he was making himself known.”
My lip curls in disgust. What the fuck is this asshole’s problem? He is really starting to piss me off.
“I think he’s been watching us,” I admit.
