She drifts her open palm across a colorful arrangement of journals. Her other remains securely tucked in mine. “The nanny position fell in my lap.”

“Probably meant to be. Those kiddos love you.”

Her gaze shifts to mine. “How would you know?”

“I’ve seen you with them on occasion. Harper and Joy sing your praises like I’m going to be struck with the urge to knock you up.”

Grace chokes on her breath, mirroring my thoughts exactly. “Um, that’s… frightening.”

“Which is precisely why they say it. My sister has a sick fascination for watching me squirm. Any woman who catches my eye for longer than common courtesy gets the third degree.”

“No wonder you swore off relationships,” she laughs.

“I did. Past tense.” A wink solidifies my point.

She fans herself. “There you go spoiling me with too much credit again.”

“It’s the soulmate special,” I correct. “And I’ll gladly gobble any free time you have to spare. Just like how I’ll meet the three of you for lunch sometime.”

“I’d like that. Bradley will be especially pleased to meet you.”

“Why’s that?”

She waves it off. “Not important.”

“All right. Just let me know where and when. I’ll be there.”

“It’s a date. In the meantime, how should we spend the rest of tonight?”

“Pick a book for us to read.” I gesture at the options piled high in every direction.

A glint enters her gaze. “Should we visit the raunchy erotica section?”

My stride falters on the potential alone. “This innocent-looking establishment houses such racy material?”

Her brows twerk. “Some call it a sex dungeon.”

I gasp for her benefit. The laugh I earn is a rich reward. “Those actually exist in public places?”

“It’s hidden along the far wall, and it’s monitored. No funny business in the stacks.” She sends me a pointed look that’s well deserved.

“Is that where your stash comes from?”

“Most aren’t that explicit. There’s plenty of plot. The smut gets blended in. But tonight… I’m in the mood for the opposite.”

“You’ve been saving the extra filthy stuff for me.” I hum as a specific title comes to mind. “Like the Kama Sutra.”

“We can get creative. Let’s see what’s available.” She bumps her hip into me at a scheming tempo.

I let her drag me down the aisles to our destination. “Someone’s in a hurry.”

Grace twirls and peeks over her shoulder with a flirty grin. “Well, duh. Several of my most beloved things in one spot gets me antsy.”

My smile in response can only be described as cheesy. “Maybe we’ll get inspired and stop at a different type of shop before getting freaky between the sheets.”

“Now that’s an idea,” she murmurs. Her blush rebounds with fiery intensity. “Don’t forget about my other boyfriends in the drawer.”

“Couldn’t if I tried.”
