“You don’t hear the wordnovery often, do you?”
He thought about it for a second. “Actually, I don’t.”
Olivia put the papers back in the folder and closed it, pushing it away from her as she deadpanned, “You don’t say.”
“Did you even read it?”
“I read the title—I didn’t need to go any further.”
“You should have your attorney review it, of course, but I think you’ll find the terms are in your favor.”
Maverick opened the folder and pointed to the bullet points of the contract with the tip of his pen as he read them aloud.
“In the event thatIdivorceyou, you’ll automatically be awarded full custody and given a million dollars for every year we’re married, with a minimum of one million, plus monthly child and spousal support. Sawyer will have an irrevocable trust fund, so you won’t have to worry about saving for his college. Ifyoudivorceme, you’ll leave with what you came into the marriage with, and we’ll let a judge decide the custody arrangement.”
“How is that any different than if we just went to court now?”
“I think a judge would look more favorably toward you and less favorably toward me if you at least tried to be married to me, but I was so unbearable you couldn’t stand it.”
His description made her smile briefly, but then he watched her wheels turning.
“So, if you divorce me, you walk away and will only see Sawyer when I allow it?”
He nodded slowly as he noticed her eyes start to flash, as if she was formulating a plot.
“What about my boyfriend? Can I still see him?”
His nostrils flared at the mere mention of her being involved with someone else.
“That would change things, as there’s a fidelity clause—for both of us. If I’m unfaithful, it makes the contract null and void, and you’d probably be able to get half my assets in divorce court, plus full custody. If you’re unfaithful, then it negates the part of the contract that I won’t fight you for custody, and voids your million-dollar-a-year golden parachute, plus spousal support.”
“I don’t want your money, Pete.”
His laugh was mirthless. “Just my baby.”
“Ourbaby,” she corrected.
“Our baby.”
“Why can’t we split custody now and bypass all this? We can work out terms that are agreeable to both of us.”
“I already told you, Olivia. I’m not missing out on raising my son this time.”
She flopped back against her seat in obvious aggravation. “You’re such a stubborn ass…”
He raised an eyebrow at her. “Careful, darlin’. I might start to think your mouth is made for dirty things.”
Olivia crossed her arms and returned his stare, not backing down.
“I seem to recall you already experienced all the dirty things my mouth is capable of.”
A small grin escaped him. “Oh sweetheart, I’ll bet that was just the tip of the iceberg.”
His sassy little baby mama didn’t back down.
“I don’t think you gave me the tip of anything that night.”
His cock moved at the memory of being balls deep in her. No, there was definitely more than the tip that night.
