“She’s coming here, too.”

At least he hoped she was.

“Damn, Mav. Are you nuts? You just earned your freedom, man! Now you’re starting over with diapers and bottles and sleepless nights.”

“It’s not like I planned this,” he grumbled. “But, at least I know what to expect, right?”

“I guess.” Gabe didn’t sound convinced.

“It’s not exactly like I have a choice here. I have a son What would you suggest I do?”

His brother was as honorable as Maverick. He had to understand there was no other option.

“I don’t know, dude. Next time, wrap your cock better? Pull out? Get snipped?”

“Thanks for the stellar advice, asshole. I’ll take it into considerationnext time. But right now, I’m bringing a baby home tomorrow.” At least that was the plan. “Can you help me or not?”

“Just bustin’ your balls, bro. That’s not something I get to do every day, so I’m going to take advantage of it while I have the chance.”

“Go ahead, yuck it up now ‘cuz when I get home tomorrow, that shit will be on lockdown, you understand? It will be nothing but fucking rainbows and unicorns around Olivia and Sawyer.”

“Aw, I like his name.”

“Yeah, me too.”

“Did you pick it out?”

“No, that was all his mom. I just provided the last name.”

“So she’s letting him have your last name? She’s not hyphenating or anything? I hear that’s becoming more common these days, especially if the parents aren’t married.”

“Yeah, well, I’m hoping to take care of that, too.” He didn’t give a shit about this supposed boyfriend.

“Shut. The. Fuck. Up. You are not going to marry this girl?”

“Uh, why the hell not? She’s brilliant, funny, beautiful, and the mother of my son. I’d be a fool not to.”

The more he thought about it, the more he was convinced he was right.

“Dude….” Maverick could picture his brother shaking his head on the other end. “At least make sure you get a prenup.”

“Yeah, of course.”

A prenup. He hadn’t even considered that. He would have married her in the hospital chapel without one today. Maybe it was a good thing she’d slowed his roll.

“Alright, if I’m going on a quest for baby furniture, I probably need to get started before the stores close.”

“Thanks, Gabe. I owe you.”

“No, you don’t. That’s what brothers do. Besides, I’m pretty sure you’ve saved my ass more than once; it’s the least I can do.”

“Well, I appreciate it.”

“Send me some pictures of my nephew and his mom. She’s hot, isn’t she?”

She’s gorgeous. And probably closer to his brother’s age.

“You don’t need to worry about what she looks like,” he snarled. “But I will send you some pictures of the baby when I get back to the hospital.”
