By the time I’d showered and dressed in a clean pair of shorts, Theo had disappeared. I noticed that the white box next to his bed had been emptied, so I knew that wherever he’d gone, I could reach him. I’d completed my day’s therapy session—this morning had been a group session where they tried to teach us to meditate, unsuccessfully in my case—and spent two hours in the gym, and now I had the rest of the day free.
I was bored. Yeah, I was in paradise, but I was alone, and Theo was the only person I knew here. Even though we hated each other, antagonising him until he exploded could be a way to pass the time until dinner.
Me:
Where are you?
Theo:
Go away, Jordan
Me:
Rude. What are you doing?
Theo:
Leave me alone
Me:
I’ll keep texting until you reply
Theo
THEODORE
THEODORE LEWIN
LORD LEWIN
Theo:
Fuck OFF, Emery
Me:
Nope
Theo:
You are the most irritating person I’ve ever met. Where I am and what I’m doing is none of your concern
Me:
I’m bored
Theo:
I don’t care
Me:
I’m your teammate. You should care
Theo:
I don’t. I’ve been through three days of hell, and all I want to do now is survive the rest of my time here as far away from you as possible. Leave me alone. I won’t be replying to you anymore
