“Connor, Mia isn’t dead, but Carlos is. It’s time to live your life. You got him.”

Technically, Nathan did, but the point is he’s gone.

“I did,” Connor replies, and his eyes drift over to the floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking Manhattan. “I fucking did.”

It’s been a lifetime of revenge for him. His family was slaughtered when he was just a little boy.

Fucking mafia. They are the source of so much pain for so many people.

Connor blinks, and his eyes are back on me. He nods at the tablet. “So, Operations Manager of Barrett Security. Time to grow our team. Make sure we have good people, and they have everything they need,” he says, getting back to business. “And I mean everything.”

The company provides top-level private security to some pretty important names in the United States, so there’s no room for sloppiness.

The app opens, and I scroll through the list of names.

They’re not my first team. I’m looking forward to getting started and putting them through the tests and induction prog—

Ice runs through my veins as I see her name.

Summer Botticelli.

Clenching my jaw, I hope this is a fucking joke. There is no way this is a coincidence, just as there is no way she could have found me.

For if she did, they can.

And that’s a very, very bad thing.

Looks like my ghosts just woke up.

Fuck.
