Not in the scheme of things.

Looking back, it was as if both of them had blinkers on and wanted this. They hadn’t been careful.

She hadn’t taken...

“I said forty-eight hours,” Aidan replied, and Lily saw the pain in his eyes. Heck, she felt it in her heart.

She should have messaged him, but the past twenty-four hours had been a blur and she truly had thought he’d left.

Lily lifted her hand to his face and cupped his cheek. Her heart was pounding so hard, knowing this was a key moment in her life. What happened next would change the course of her life.

Not justherlife.

“Do you really love me?” she asked, desperate to know.

“No, I was just joking. I thought I would stand out here in the cold, wishing like hell you would love me back, because it’s fun.” Aidan’s lips twitched, but his eyes were glistening with unshed tears.

“I want to tell you I love you, but—”

She smiled, her heart beginning to melt.

God, she had missed those beautiful green eyes and his gruffness.

Aidan brushed his thumb across her cheeks. “You’re killing me, peaches. Tell me.”

Lily put her hand over his. “We’re pregnant.”

AIDAN STARED AT LILYfor a really long time.

“What?”

She nodded. “Also, yes, I love you.”

He kept staring.

Pregnant.

He was going to be a dad.

Oh, my God.

“Wait. Say that last bit again,” Aidan insisted, the fog beginning to clear.

“I love you, Aidan Dufort,” Lily said, and his entire chest burst open. He lifted her off her feet and spun her around like an idiot.

“Wait. Sound check. Because you’re pregnant?” he asked, knowing the answer, but he had to ask.

He lowered her to her feet.
