Greyson turns to me. His hazel eyes overflow with lovingkindness and a warmth that makes me quiver inside. Leaning in, he wraps his arms around my body, and presses me to his chest.
I’m lost for breath as I hug Greyson back. Closing my eyes, I think about all of our wonderful moments together, the incredible memories we’ve made.
Our time in the cuddle room flashes back through my mind. I picture how scared and timid I was before we entered; how I stared at the door, unable to step through quite yet; how I confessed that I played with Greyson’s cock in the dead of night; and how Greyson hugged me, accepted me, showed his love for me, and didn’t let me go.
Greyson is the one for me. My man, my Daddy, my everything. Our relationship soars to new heights every single day, and with him, I can conquer the world.
I hear a subtle tweet in my ear that takes a few moments to register. "We have a winner!"
Greyson pries open my left eye, then his right. I stare up at his face like a brand-new baby that’s experiencing the world for the first time. "Hey, sweet boy. We won."
"No, we didn’t. We’ve only been hugging for two minutes."
"Two hours."
All the Littles in the playroom clap and cheer and scream our names. They toss confetti on us, bat balloons through the air, and congratulate us on our victory.
BJ and Bryce rush forward with the new teddy. "This is yours."
I turn to Waxley and Wren. "Didn’t you two win? I was convinced it’d be you."
Waxley presses his nose against Wren’s chest. "I made a pee pee halfway through. I wasn’t in my diaper, and Wren decided it was best to change me."
I accept the teddy, then cry. Oh, this teddy is so cute, except there’s one slight problem.
My eyes pour out tears as I face Greyson. "I love this teddy, but I can’t take him home. Constable Charlie is the only teddy for me, and he’d get jealous if I hugged two teddies at night. I can’t do it, Daddy. Help me decide what to do."
Greyson kisses my nose. A nose kissy for his baby boy. "Constable Charlie can have a brother."
"No, Daddy. Constable Charlie doesn’t want a brother—he only wants me. I’m his brother, his Daddy, his everything. He likes having all my attention, and bringing home this new cute teddy will hurt him too much. He feels old, too old for love, and my hugs have turned him into a young teddy once again. This teddy is too new, and Constable Charlie is very insecure. Don’t make me hurt his feelings, Daddy. Please."
Greyson pops the new teddy out of my hand and gives him to BJ. "Congratulations, BJ. You have a new teddy to bring onto construction sites when Bryce finally agrees to let you tag along."
BJ lifts the teddy, then skips in a circle. He whistles a tune, twirling his new teddy in the air. "Your name is Bob. You’re gonna build with me!"
Bryce can’t help but watch BJ with hearts in his eyes. "That’s a perfect name, BJ."
My breath hitches as I turn back to Greyson. "We won, Daddy."
No amount of practice prepared me for this moment. Greyson and I won the competition—we’re the best huggers in the Hug Club.
Bryce takes our photo, then hangs it on the wall. Jako comes out of the kitchen with a freshly baked rainbow sprinkle cake that he crafted just for us.
As Greyson feeds me bites of cake, taking care not to get any crumbs on the new rainbow bib he wraps around my neck, I think that this is the best moment of my life. Nothing compares to this. We’re hugging champions, and nothing can take that from us.
EPILOGUE
ONE YEAR LATER
Calloway
These are the nights I love the best.
The ones where Greyson comes home from his firm with a big bouquet of flowers for me and Constable Charlie.
He whips up a delicious dinner of dinosaur nuggets, rainbow sprinkle milkshakes, and fries, and he sets me on his lap as he feeds me while we watch animated movies.
I’m twenty now—a far cry from the eighteen-year-old boy I was when Greyson and I first got together. It’s hard to believe that we’ve been together for nearly two whole years, but it’s the truth.
