Nothing in this world matters more to me than her.

“Fucking love you!” I curse and yell out when I can’t hold off the orgasm any longer. Riley pulls me into her as I come inside of her for the first time.

But far from the last.

CHAPTER43

Kyle

“You know we could’ve made a baby this weekend,” I tell Riley as I wrap her in my arms from behind.

It’s Monday morning and I’ve spent the past two and a half days not letting my wife up for air. Eve spent the weekend with my parents and Stasi. We’re on our way back to their house to pick Eve up and take her to school since she complained about missing the both of us the night before when Riley called her.

My wife turns to me. Her eyes search mine. “How do you feel about that?”

I bend down to kiss the tip of her nose, then her forehead, and finally her lips. “We have Eve. She wants a younger brother or sister.”

Riley’s face scrunches. “She told you that?”

I nod. “A few weeks ago. Said she doesn’t mind being the only kid, but she wishes she had some brothers or sisters like I had growing up.”

“Do you think we’re ready for that?”

“Ready or not, it’ll probably happen sooner rather than later because after this weekend there’s no fucking way I’m pulling out from now on.”

She pulls back and folds her arms. “Don’t I get a say in the matter?”

“You had a whole lot to say last night from what I remember.Oh, Kyle, right there!Don’t stop, baby … come inside of me,” I mock.

She punches my shoulder. “First of all, I don’t sound like that. Second, a pregnancy won’t happen,” she says with confidence. “Not for a while.”

I look at her with narrowed eyes.

“Ever since that first time we didn’t use a condom, I went to the doctor to get on birth control. I hated the idea of taking a pill every day, so I opted for the injection. It lasts for twelve weeks. So, until we’re ready to have a baby, we don’t have to worry about that.”

“What if I’m ready now.”

Shaking her head, she laughs. “You’re ridiculous. How about we try being married for at least a year or two before we go adding babies to the mix?”

I shrug. “Suit yourself. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be ready when you are.”

“We have enough on our plate already,” she continues. “We still don’t know where Dean Walsh is. We’re starting a whole new community shelter. Everything at Townsend is still up in the air.”

I plant a kiss on her lips again. “Don’t worry about my job. The board has enough to be concerned about with Adam’s arrest and my father and uncles finally making the move to privatize. I’m still the COO. We’ll get that cocksucker Dean soon. And the shelter will be a massive success.”

I spin her toward the door even though I don’t want to leave what feels like the safety of this cocoon we’ve been in for the past three days.

While I have no regrets about keeping my wife locked away from the world and basically in bed and naked for the past three days, I do know she’s right. There is one main issue that remains unresolved, that’s irritating the fuck out of me.

Dean Walsh.

The bastard has no more cards left to play. Everyone he leaned on for his revenge is either in jail or mired in public scandal.

That should satisfy me. It doesn’t.

He’s still out there. He hasn’t tried to contact Riley again, but I know that doesn’t mean he’s gone completely away.

I push thoughts about Dean to the back of my mind as we pick up Eve from school. On the way home, I have the driver drop us off in front of the building.
