"So..."

"I think I need you with me so that I don’t cave because I feel like I just might," I said. He smiled, and then he kissed me once again.

“I’m so happy that you’re coming to me with this," he said, and I pouted.

“You’re happy seeing me weak?”

"Yes, for once. You never are. But here you are leaning on me, and it just makes me so fucking happy," I replied.

"But..."

"But" he smiled, "I am confident that you can handle this one completely on your own. And from my experience with huge deals like this, they will be willing to pay forty-two million, maybe not more than that, but it sure is a hell of a lot more than 38."

I stared at him and then nodded.

"So, you think my walk-away number should be 42 million?" I asked, seeking confirmation, and he nodded.

"Absolutely. Your scents are revolutionary, so don't sell yourself short, and this is just the start. It will set the value of your scents for all others to come."

"So, you really won’t be sitting in with me?" I inquired again, still hopeful.

He shook his head and then pulled me close to him, pressing a kiss against my forehead.

"No," he replied.

I understood this and, in a way, I was relieved to hear it. It was just that I was getting so used to having him around these days that not having him to lean on was no longer something I shied away from.

But regardless just hearing him speak to me in this way was beyond wonderful.

I straightened my spine, gave him a kiss and headed out.

I was still a bit nervous but when the meeting started and I recalled his encouragement in my head, I was reminded once again that there was absolutely nothing to worry about.
