"But it could also be because of his pride, and all that could have been, was bullshit," my brother said, and I smiled.
"And how exactly would his pride come into play here?" I asked, and he shrugged.
"Who the fuck knows. Anyway, my point is that I'm coming to you now to ask you to buy me out, if you can. And I need to have your decision immediately or at the very least in a few hours."
I gave him a look and then shook my head.
"I think you should make him see reason in taking the equity," I said.
“Having the power over the both of them might not look every good.”
"To whom?" He was annoyed by my comment. "To him?"
I didn’t respond and he sighed.
"Fine, whatever. Talk this over with him. It has nothing to do with me, and I'd rather cut off my own arm than go back to be spit at.”
"I could transfer this thing at any time, so if you call to take me up on it and it's too late, then sorry in advance, but don't be late."
He turned around to speak to David, but I had one more question for him.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean when you leave here, what exactly are your plans? What do you need this money so urgently for?"
He looked at me and then responded.
"Romania," he said, and I was immensely surprised.
"And Vegas, actually, but mainly Romania for now. I want to go into business with some acquaintances, and we want to invest in a couple of ventures. Casinos, nightclubs, vodka, and the like. I enjoy this thing more than selling thread count sheets and being a real estate agent, so I want to try my hand at it to see."
I was extremely happy to hear his words, yet at the same time, I was also sad because I deeply suspected that he was going to love all of these things and perhaps never come back.
"Thank you, Lena," he replied.
I nodded, either way, and wished him the best from the depths of my heart.
"I wish you the best as well, Lena," he said. "And good luck on your new division. It's coming along nicely."
I watched him leave and tried to get back to work, but as all the possibilities of how things could go, both good and bad, sank in, I let the offer linger briefly and headed up to his office.

So far, and as usual, she'd been avoiding my office at all costs, so I couldn't say that it wasn't a surprise when my secretary announced that she was requesting to see me. However, given the machinations her brother was busy with, it made sense that she would come here. However, I just couldn't make out why.
"Hey," I greeted, and she smiled in response as she headed in and, to my surprise, took a seat.
"You seem relaxed," I said, and she smiled again.
"I'm usually not when I come here, am I?" she asked.
"No, you're not," I replied. "You're usually with a loaded gun or two."
"You're right," she said as she nodded.
