She went silent for a while, and I shook my head at myself.

"Oh," she said. "Okay."

I smiled.

"What I want to hear from you is that it's a bad idea and that I should cancel immediately."

"You know I won't say that" she said, and I frowned as I plopped into my chair.

"Why?"

"Because he just might be good for you," she said, and I couldn't believe her words.

"After all I've told you about him."

"So, what if he was an edgy youth? So far, he's been nothing but pleasant to you, and I'm his fan for that, so... I am more than interested in hearing so much more about where you two are taking this."

At her words, I went silent, more than grateful that I wasn't the one who broached this topic.

"Why are you quiet?" she asked.

"Well... being busy with the apartment is not the only reason why I've been more or less MIA."

"Uh oh," she said. "What happened?"

I sighed and gave the simplest answer.

"The sex was phenomenal."

"And now you two want this to be a thing?" she asked.

"Not a thing," I replied as I turned around to look at the striking skyline view of the city I was beginning to envelop affection for.

"Just... it's not completely nothing anymore."

"Wow," she said. "I expected this to happen, but much, much later."

"Yeah," I said. "I prayed that it wouldn't happen at all."

"Tough luck," she said, and I had to nod to that.

"So... just dinner?" she asked, and I was immensely amused.

"What, you want me to give you explicit details?"

"I won't complain," she said, and I shook my head.

"Freak. Anyway... I'm hoping it just stops there, but with the way it all happened, I'm doubting it will. I'm just worried because this seems like an incredibly dumb move on my part. But unless I completely stick my head in the sand now and don't even bother coming up for air, I have no idea how this will be resolved."

"Right," she said.

"Well, it's time to come up for air, if I do say so myself, and I am here for it. What do you have planned?"

It had truly been a while since I had been this excited. I tried my best not to show it, but it was truly difficult, especially as I arrived at her building and realized that it was within running distance of mine. Granted, most of the high-end apartments were close together, but this was a fact that especially lightened up my mood. I was already cleared with the concierge as I was expected, so the moment I announced my name, I was led to the appropriate elevator and guided up. She was on one of the higher floors, but the elevator was fast, so I arrived in no time, although it didn't feel like it.
