“It's no big deal…” I began the lie echoing in my head, but then I really wanted it to be a lie, but I couldn’t quite convince myself of this.
"I mean it's not a big deal, is it?"
"What happened, ma'am?" she asked, and I went on.
"So, we had a meeting... and we went to a restaurant."
"A date?" she asked, and I rolled my eyes.
"No, and stop, I'm trying to remove any personal connotations from this. It was a business lunch between two very serious-minded business owners."
"Okay," she said seriously, and then she messed up again. "Until..."
I was about to get upset, but then the humor caught on and I just smiled.
"Until?" she asked, and I finally gave in.
"Fine. We went to a hotel afterwards. And... he um..."
"He did what?"
"Stop," I said.
"Just get to it. There's no good way to say it. You guys fucked?"
I sighed.
"Wow," she said. "I mean, I have no complaints though. I almost even expected it, but on the first day?"
"Miss ma'am," I said. "I didn't say that we didn't do that."
"So, what did you two do at the hotel?"
I let it go, though my tone I noticed, went several pitches lower than ever. Still, she heard me loud and clear.
"He went down on you?" she asked, and I nodded until I realized that she couldn't see me.
"Yeah," I said, and she laughed.
"Oh, that had to be good. You don't do that easily."
"Tell me about it."
"So now what's the plan? Is that why you called me?"
"There's no plan," I groaned. "I just..."
"You just what?"
"I want to move past it, put it behind me, but I really don't know how to do it. Maybe if I ignore it long enough, he'll do the same and-"
"Wait, what are you trying to put behind you? What happened at the hotel? Why the hell would you do that?"
"It's the first day," I told her. "Things are so unstable and yet I'm already letting the CEO eat me out?”
Suddenly, there was a knock on my door and my heart nearly left my chest. I immediately sat up, groaning, and then I excused myself from the conversation. A few minutes later, my secretary walked in.
"Mr. Lazarus is here to see you," he said. "He wanted to know if you were busy and had a moment or two to spare."
