"The nineteenth."

She smiled.

"Any big plans?" I asked.

"You mean apart from the dress?" I smiled. “Not really. I’ll be attending a wedding beforehand though with Anna, so I’ll use that as an early celebration. Matthew's wedding."

“Matthew?” I asked.

“Yeah, Matthew Berth. You two were close, weren't you? I mean, we all were, but I haven't heard from him in so long. Will you be attending the wedding as well? Did you get an invitation?"

"I lost contact with him sometime during college, so I haven't spoken to him since then. So no, I didn't get an invite."

"Oh," she said. "I haven't spoken to him either, but Anna keeps in touch with everybody, so I was invited by extension. I'm sure she can get you an invitation if you want to go, of course. He probably just thought you were too busy to attend."

"I'll look into it," I said, and she smiled.

"It's in Geneva, so it's a great opportunity for traveling and visiting a new place," she added and just then, my car arrived before us.

"I'll take you back to the hotel," I said as the chauffeur got out and started to head over.

"No need," she said as the door was pulled open for me. "I want to walk back. I ate a lot, so this is a great chance to clear my head a bit."

I stared at her, hoping it wouldn't be another chance for her to overthink things. There was nothing I could do to deter her, so I nodded. After the morning we'd had I couldn't just go without touching her, so I pulled her close and gave her a kiss. It was supposed to be light and quick, but just like always at the taste of her, I lost myself. We kissed deeply for a few seconds, and then she forcefully pulled away.

She was obviously embarrassed because we were on the street, but I could see the sparkle in her eyes.

"We could get photographed," she gently smacked me across the arm.

"Doesn't matter," I said, and she scoffed.

"It better, or else it's going to be difficult for you to find anyone to date after I'm gone."

I wasn't happy to hear this one bit, but I didn't respond. Instead, I gave her one last kiss on the cheek and got into the car.

CALLIE

Ihad ensured to ignore my phone since my call with Anna that morning. When I returned to the inn and finally turned it back on, the influx of notifications once again barraged me. Everyone had promised that this would die down soon, but it only seemed to be getting worse. I took a seat on the bed and began to scroll through some of them. Distant acquaintances were suddenly saying hello and you're so lucky, and then one from Anna telling me to check Instagram.

Me: Why?

I headed into the bathroom to take my makeup off.

Anna: Because I know you won't go there otherwise. You have six thousand new followers.

My eyes slightly widened at this yet as I quickly headed over to the app to see that indeed my follower count had gone from about four hundred to six thousand.

I stared at it wondering why they thought it necessary to follow me. Anna soon gave an answer.

Anna: You're the billionaire's girlfriend. Lucas doesn't have any social media accounts, so of course, through you, is the only way they’re hoping to get photos of him.

Sighing, I shook my head and set the phone down as I got ready for a nap. It had been my plan to do a little bit more touristy things, but I promised myself I would go in the evening. Currently, that massive brunch I had was turning my eyelids to lead.

Afterward and with the memory of that wonderful parting kiss nursing butterflies in my stomach, I returned to bed and picked up my phone once again. The messages were abysmal because even in the midst of everyone seemingly trying to reach me, there were also insults hurled. It was amusing, to say the least, but just as I pulled the covers over my head, a phone call came in.

I was positive it was from Lucas, but when I saw a number that I didn't recognize, I was concerned. I picked it up before it disconnected and found a woman's sultry voice.
