“Hey, baby. Sorry about that. My call ran longer than intended,” Drevon said as he slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her against his side.

Ahh, maybe Edward saw Drevon coming over and that’s why he didn’t engage in their usual verbal sparring.

Antika leaned into Drevon, and his alluring scent wrapped around her like a cashmere blanket. When she gazed up at him, the heated look he was giving her made her heart jolt and her panties damp.

Damn him for making her want him.

“You doing okay?” he asked quietly.

“I’m great.” Antika slid her arm around his waist and covered his mouth with hers. It was only supposed to be a little peck, but Drevon had other ideas.

He nudged her lips apart with his tongue and kissed her like she was the sweetest thing he’d ever tasted. As his tongue tangled with hers, he held her close, and she moaned. She moaned, not caring that there were people around.

How was she going to survive without him in her life? Without his touch and his addictive kisses? Her self-esteem might’ve taken a hit after Edward but spending time with Drevon had mended the broken pieces of her heart.

“Enough already. We get that you’re in love,” Edward said on a humorless laugh.

Antika wanted to growl, and Drevon actually did. His eyes searched hers, and she was pretty sure they were thinking the same thing—I want to get you naked.

Drevon turned to Edward. “I would say it’s nice to see you again, but I’d be lying.” He moved closer. “If you ever put your hands on her again, I’ll break your damn fingers.”

Antika’s mouth dropped open at the lethal tone behind his words, but shut it quickly.

Gone was the pretty boy that she had met weeks ago, and in his place was someone she didn’t recognized. He seemed taller. He seemed broader and hell, he seemed to have morphed into a man who could back up his words.

She glanced at Edward, and Antika almost laughed at his shocked expression. He had bully tendencies, but right now, he looked like a chump who had just got his ass handed to him.

Good. If she was lucky, he’d stay the hell away from them for the rest of the night.

“Hi, honey. Sorry I’m late,” a pretty, redheaded woman said when she reached Edward. Then she looked from him to Drevon, then back to Edward.

But then she did a double take at Drevon. “Hey, you’re that model, Drevon Ross, aren’t you?”

“Yes,” he said, and just then, an announcement for everyone to find their table came through the speakers. “If you two will excuse us.”

Drevon escorted Antika to their table, and she was glad to learn that Edward was not sitting with them.

Thank God.

ChapterTwenty-Five

“Finally, a moment alone,” Drevon said as he and Antika stood on the patio looking out over the lake.

Surprisingly they had the area to themselves. Most people were inside enjoying the live band and the open bar. Dinner had been great, and the award ceremony was nice, too, but he was ready to leave. She wasn’t.

He placed a kiss on her bare shoulders. “Did I tell you how stunning you look?”

She turned in his arms to face him and smiled as she slid her arms around his waist. His heart squeezed as he stared into her eyes.

“You might’ve mentioned it a few times, and I must say, you’re looking pretty dapper yourself.”

Drevon didn’t know what she was thinking, but he was thinking that it was time to tell her how he felt. The problem was, she’d made him promise not to talk about their future until after the event.

They might’ve gotten together under unusual circumstances, but there was no doubt in his mind that she was his. He just had to convince her. For now, he’d make sure she never wanted to leave him.

“You make a great fake boyfriend.”

He grinned and gave her a quick peck on the lips. “What can I say? That’s what you’re paying me for.”
