“And I think we have something else in common—rap music, my favorite. You knew every song.”
That was a first. Most women he associated with were too prim and proper to dance the way Antika had, and they sure as hell wouldn’t know the lyrics to the “The City Is Mine” by Jay-Z.
“You’re right, I love rap music, and I love to dance,” she admitted. “Once the beats start, I get lost in the song and my body seems to have a mind of its own.” She shrugged and laughed.
Drevon moved closer, backing her further into the corner to shield them from others.
“We’ll have to go dancing again sometime,” he said, but then remembered that this was supposed to be a short-term situation. Instead of saying that, especially since he wanted more time with her, he pulled Antika to his side and placed a lingering kiss on her cheek. “Thanks for inviting me to the party.”
“Thanks for coming,” she said, smiling.
He loved the way he felt when he was with her. Powerful. Desired. Like he was a gift.
The thought might’ve seemed crazy, but the feeling was foreign, especially lately with all the crap he’d had to deal with in his personal life.
“I appreciate you being my plus-one.”
He backed her to the wall and propped one of his hands on it near her head. With his other hand, he ran the back of his fingers down her soft cheek as he stared into her beautiful dark eyes.
“It was my pleasure, and I’m looking forward to all that we have planned over the next few weeks.”
Her smile grew, and her whole face lit up. The need to kiss her again was overwhelming.
“Can I kiss you?” he asked, and she burst out laughing.
“Oh, so now you’re asking?” she cracked, and he couldn’t help the grin that slid across his face.
“Good point,” he said seconds before his mouth crushed over hers. Pleasure radiated outward, and Drevon knew that a few kisses with her tonight would never be enough.
* * *
Antika wanted more.
She knew she shouldn’t.
She knew she couldn’t. Things were already complicated enough between them.
But kissing this man had her senses reeling, and that was clearly short-circuiting something inside her brain. She was ready to throw caution out the window and go for what she wanted tonight: Drevon. In her bed.
How crazy was that? But the heat that consumed her during that kiss on the dance floor was nothing compared to this one. Her desire bloomed into a roaring fire as this kiss rocked her to her core.
Her hands slid to his hard abs and worked their way up his torso. There wasn’t a lick of fat anywhere her fingers touched, and she allowed them to continue exploring his upper body. The moment she reached his shoulders, she wrapped her arms around his neck and placed her hand at the back of his head. Pulling him closer, deepening their lip-lock.
Gawd!
She could admit that she had kissed her share of men, but none made her heart sing and her body tingle with need the way this man did.
Drevon moaned against her lips, or maybe that was her. Either way, they kissed each other with a hunger that promised of more things to come.
She wanted him. Wanted him more than she’d ever wanted a man, and…
“Ahem.” Someone cleared their throat nearby, and Antika froze. She didn’t take a breath until Drevon mumbled a curse.
As if on a spindle, their heads turned at the same time, and Antika’s attention landed on a grinning Tamera.
Crap!
“Oh, don’t stop on my account. Looks like things were just getting good. Carry on.” She waved her hand between them and slowly backed away. “We can chat later, but Tika, if you decide to take that kiss somewhere more private, you have my blessings. Better yet, we can talk tomorrow. Late, latetomorrow.”
