He takes hold of the angel from my necklace. "I love you."

My lips curl and my heart sings with happiness. "I love you too."

I stretch and connect our lips when he tucks a lock of hair behind my ear. For minutes, we kiss slowly, bathing in the magical realm of us. But when I shiver, he sits up and pulls the sheets over our exhausted bodies.Resting my head on his chest and listening to the steady drum that is his heartbeat, I doze off to wonderland.

"Good morning, Smarty,"I say, opening the curtains. Charlotte lifts her head, peeks through her lashes, and when her brain registers it's me, she jumps into a sitting position.

"Giant? Where is Mom?"

"She is in the kitchen, making your breakfast. It's a school day."

I chuckle when she lets her head fall back onto the pillow. "Can I skip school and stay with you today?"

A warm sensation fills my chest. "Another time, sweetie. School is important."

She snorts. "Skipping one day won't make a real difference."

I turn and send her a wink. "See you in a few minutes?"

"Nick?"

I halt and turn." Yes."

"I'm never taking this off," she says, holding her pendant.

My heart grows with love for the sweet girl, and I smile. When she jumps out of bed, I walk back to the kitchen, where Emma is pacing up and down. I observe her as she makes breakfast and places items in Charlotte's school bag. Being part of their morning routine feels incredible. These two amazing women have enriched my life. When I'm with them, it feels like I'm home.

"Good morning, Angel."

Emma stops and I chuckle when a blush appears on her cheeks as her gaze roams my body.

"Miss Campbell, are you having dirty thoughts?"

The coloration on her skin increases and when I pat her behind as I pass her, her breath hitches for a brief moment.

“Coffee?” I ask.

"Yes, please. I crave caffeine in the morning."

I pour two cups with the brown liquid and place them on the kitchen table while taking a seat. She joins me after finishing and when our eyes connect, I take her hand in mine. "I can get used to these kinds of mornings. This is better than waking up alone."

"Oh, I know what you mean. I don't mind it either." I lean in, and as our lips connect, Charlotte walks in.

"Are you two kissing again?"

She smiles, but the moment she sits, her face gets a serious expression.

"Care to share your thoughts?" Emma asks.

Right away, she fusses with her breakfast.

"What is it, cupcake? Do you want to ask something about your father?"

She stiffens but nods her head.

"That's okay. You can ask anything. Emma reaches forward and touches her daughter's cheek. "I know it must have been a shock to meet him the way you did."
