"And that's a good thing?" I asked, not letting on that it was a trait I'd immediately liked about Zoey too.

"Yes. You definitely need someone who doesn't just—" The corners of her mouth twitched as she hesitated. "—do what you say."

"Right."

I was too stunned to say anything else.

"The fact that she immediately thought about taking a picture for her mother speaks volumes about where her heart is. It's in the right place, and I always appreciate that in people."

I shook my head, checking the time and getting up from my desk. "Come on, let's go to lunch or we'll be late."

Grandmother beamed. "By the way, I forgot to tell Zoey, if her mom wants an autograph, I'm more than happy. Can you tell her that?"

I laughed. "Sure, Grandmother. I will."

"Good. Will you give what I said some thought?"

"You're going to go on about this our entire lunch date, aren't you?"

She patted my arm. "You know me so well, dear."

Chapter Five

Zoey

"Sandra, can I corruptyou into a lunch date?" I asked.

She looked up from her computer and then rose to her feet. "Sure, let's go. What do you have in mind?" She grabbed her purse from her desk drawer and her coat from behind the door.

"The burger place on the ground floor. It’s amazing."

She nodded. "True, it is. I usually avoid it because too many people from work eat there."

"We can always take our burgers and sit on the pier."

"I'd like that,” she said.
