I peer out through the barrier, but all I’m met with, is white clouds.
I don’t think I can mask my disappointment well as Scott turns to me,“Not what you expected, honey?”
I look back at him with a sheepish smile,“It’s great,” trying to sound grateful.
Of course, I am, it’s just hard when I feel like we’d planned this trip so well and it being one of our few chances to escape for a getaway.
Scott reaches up to tuck my loose hair behind my ears, my beanie not containing them very well against the strong winds.
“Don’t worry, darling, we will come back one summer. I promise.” He pushes his warm lips against mine.
I close my eyes with satisfaction at the comfort it provides me. The taste of mint spread throughout my senses. It’s like all of a sudden, it didn’t matter that the view isn’t great. What’s important is that we did it, we’ve managed to go on my dream vacation.
We’ve worked so hard to save up, sacrificing quality time together and becoming extremely stressed in the process. It’s all worth it to be here with him, right now.
He pulls away and grins at me, before looking startled at something behind me.
I quickly twist to face what he is staring at. I scan the view and each tourist.
What on earth was he looking at?
Confused, I return to face Scott.
Scott?
My gaze drops down to see the most nerve-stricken, but sweet, face staring up at me.
Shifting my eyes to the glimmer in the small green velvet box, I gasp. My hand rises to cover my mouth in shock.
“Indie Margot Thorne,” he begins. I can’t believe this is happening. In my favorite city, with my most favorite person.
“I never knew what love felt like until the moment you scribbled your name on my planning board. The way you make me feel is like I am invincible, like I can take on the world. Since you’ve walked, or stumbled, into my life, I’ve been dreaming of this moment. The moment I can make you mine forever. I love you so incredibly much and my hand is freezing off so please Indie, will you marry me?” He looks up at me with pleading eyes.
I nod so quickly, I can barely see.
I whip off my gloves and let him slide the ring over my finger. His poor hands are shaking from the cold, but at this moment in time, I can’t feel it. My entire body burns with thrill and excitement; nothing could ruin this moment.
It was only then, I heard the cheers and claps of the crowd that had witnessed the proposal. Scott takes me into his arms and spins me around, kissing all over my rosy cheeks. This smile, his smile. He has just made me the happiest girl in the world.
I’m pulled away from the beloved memory.
“Girl, are you crying?” Britney makes a pet lip and reaches over to wipe the stray tear that’s escaped.
I sniffle and shake my head, making sure I’m not going to let my guard down any further than I’d already let it. I try to distract from the tears and point at the screen.
“Wait, what’s that?”

‘Mr Scott Lowrey, in regards to our recent meetups, I would like to offer you …’
Both me and Britney dare not to move a muscle. We are both frozen, staring at the small pop up that could ruin my entire life.
“You read it,” I say, as I bow my head.
