“We have a medic with us, he can fly with you on the way back and get you both checked out. That must have been pretty fucking traumatic.” Devon says, crouching down on his knees to lower himself to our height.

“Thank you,” I breathe, peering up at the man who spared our lives, the man who gave us the opportunity to keep our family.

He places a gloved hand on my shoulder, patting it slightly, “Honestly, anytime,” Devon grins.

Finally building up the courage, I look around.

It’s interesting, seeing the complete turmoil around me, the disaster and hatred splattered across the room, like a pitiful version of Romeo & Juliet.

The tragic love story of two forbidden sweethearts, that tried everything they could to be together but ultimately, it was their love for one another that killed them.

A wicked grin spreads across my face.

Chapter 33

Reed

In some weird, fucked-up way, there is something satisfying about seeing the demise of my beloved ex-wife and my sister.

In every way possible, I’ve replayed the moment in my head, wondering if things could have turned out differently, but ultimately it’s inevitable.

Allie was never going to win. I was pushed to limits beyond my control and if anyone was to ask me if I’d have done things differently, I wouldn’t have.

I sought out my sweet retribution, she got exactly what she deserved, along with my sister.

There’s one thing you should never test in a father, unless you really want to see the deepest, darkest side of him. And, that’s questioning how far they will go for their child, in order to keep them safe.

It’s pitiful that they thought I would do anything less, that I would put anything before my daughter, regardless of what it is.

I’ll never change that. I’ll never surrender to anything less than ensuring Willow is protected at all costs, regardless of who or what. This will continue until the day I eventually meet my own demise.

I will still confidently back every decision that I’ve made so that Willow can prosper. And of course, our sweet new angel baby.

Indie grasps my hand, interlocking her fingers with mine as we journey back to the airport, to our future.

My body buzzes with excitement and love at the thought of our baby girl, waiting at the airport for us, knowing she is returning home where she belongs. Happy and safe.

Rachel and Bill have been shaken beyond belief. We made sure that they’re terrified for their lives if they ever try to interfere with Willow or any of us again. We made sure of that by showing them their untimely fate if they are to cross with us, ever. The still and lifeless bodies of Allie and Lottie.

In regards to my darling sister, I’m annoyed more than anything. Irritated that she got herself involved in between a situation that didn’t concern her, and now she’s just a consequence of her actions.

The car stops in front of the entrance of the bustling airport, a mixture of vacationers, businessmen, and staff, line the walkway with their baggage in tow.

I take a glance at Indie, seeing her slightly pale and bruised. My heart strings pull, ashamed that she was harmed in the process but falling more and more in love with her, knowing she did this for Willow. We both did.

If there’s one thing more certain now, than ever, it’s that our love between the three– four of us, is unconditional.

No beginning, no end.

“She’s waiting,” Indie whispers, trying to pull me back from my inner conscience.

Squeezing her hand twice, I let go as we climb out of opposing sides of the car, meeting back up on the footpath.

Regaining our connection, we stride through the airport with pride bursting out of our chests as we near the lounge where our entire world resides.

It’s as if our feet can’t move quick enough, we’re practically running at this point with our heartbeat matching the strides of our legs.

We look at each other and her green eyes sparkle under the lighting as her dark hair floats through the air from the gravity of our movements. The dimples on her face deepen the longer she looks at me.
