Oh, he didn’t even know the half of it. The cravings for weird foods and then the tears, the laughter, the feeling of his son or daughter moving in her belly. So many emotions and yet who was he kidding. He couldn’t wait to get her pregnant again.
“You know how stubborn she can be. She wanted us to have sex night before last.”
“And you turned her down?”
“Well, with our son or daughter right there, I didn’t think it was a good idea. So I gave her some relief with my fingers,” he said. The very idea of fucking his very pregnant wife was weird. Not that she wasn’t beautiful. In fact, in many ways, pregnancy had made her radiant.
Another scream rent the air and they both looked at one another and then took the stairs two at a time. They had to make certain she was all right.
“I don’t give a damn what that midwife says. This ain’t right. Somethings wrong,” Seth said.
“What if she’s dying? We can’t lose her,” Will said, fear clutching his chest, his breathing accelerating. Women died in labor and he couldn’t live without Lily.
They threw open the door to see the midwife down between their wife’s legs.
“Gentlemen, it’s a boy,” she said with a grin.
Will glanced at the squirming baby and then he ran to Lily’s side.
“Are you all right?”
She grinned. “Tired, but we have a son.”
The midwife handed the knife to Seth. “Would you like to cut the umbilical cord?”
“Yes,” he said and sliced through the cord.
While the midwife delivered the afterbirth, Seth took his son in his arms. “Hey, little man. Welcome to our world. You are so very loved.”
“Let me hold him,” Lily said.
Seth took their child and kneeled beside his wife. “Our family.”
Tears flowed down her cheeks. “If you don’t mind, I’d like to name him after my father. The next one can be named by you.”
Seth and Will nodded and then they gazed at their son. Each man kissed her on the lips. “Thank you.”
“Yes, thank you for creating our family.”
Lily smiled. “I love you, my cowboys.”
“And we love you,” they both said.
