"Get up," I order my brother.

He slides out of the booth.

I follow, rising, then I put my hands on the table and lean down. I threaten, "Don't go too far, Maeve. Remember, if anything is false about this information ya gave me, or if this is a trap, my people will find ya. Any wish to be happy you're on this earth will vanish. Do ya understand me?"

She nods.

I take my phone out and demand, "Now, tell me your phone number."

She scrunches her face. "Why?"

"Your job isn't to ask why," I warn.

She hesitates and then rattles it off.

I program it into my mobile, pat her shoulder, then leave. I get into the car.

Tynan follows, whistling. "She's a looker."

"You're such an asshole. What the fuck is your problem?" I bark out as he starts the engine.

He grunts. "I didn't say anything that's not true. This could totally be a trap."

He's right. I know he's right, but I won't give it to him. I just declare, "It's not a trap."

"How do ya know?"

"I just know. I can feel it."

He snorts and pulls out of the alley. "Sure. Just like all the previous false information ya got that sent ya on those dozens of trips ya made to find Lauren."

"This is different," I declare.

"Is it?"

"Aye. And why wouldn't Caleb make her marry him? It makes total sense."

Tynan shrugs. "I don't know. Where do ya want me to drop ya off? Your place or back at Brody's?"

"Brody's," I answer.

"Sucker for punishment, huh?" he asks.

I groan. "God, ya need to grow up."

"Whatever."

I add, "The only thing we're focusing on between now and Saturday is ensuring I have anything I need to rescue Lauren and my son. Don't go too far, Tynan. You're going to be part of this."

"Of course I am," he grumbles and speeds up.

I sit back, drumming my fingers on my thigh, feeling more antsy than I've felt in a long time.

Is this really it? Am I finally going to get my woman and baby back where they belong?

I have to kill Caleb.

It's got to be part of the plan, but I've got to make sure she and the baby are safe first.
