“Wyatt will be here soon. He went to pick up Mittens.”

“Muffin.”

He kisses my shoulder while his arms are around my waist below the waters.

“Kenzie.”

I stare at the water.

“Are you okay?”

“Of course, I’m okay,” I mutter, but my head is forced back so I can look at Oscar’s calming face, nice and close.

“Kenzie,” he repeats. “Are. You. Okay?”

I guess this is the feeling of déjà vu, for here I am again, fighting to keep every strand of restraint in place because I’m supposed to be strong.

Fearless

An emotionless woman who asked for this path.

Yet I’m crumbling.

Piece by piece.

All from the sight of this and that simple question.

“No.”

I’m not okay.

Nothing is okay.

“Then let it out, Kitten.”

But it’ll get better.

Because we’ll get rid of those fighting to ruin our peace.

Until we get exactly what we desire.

What we deserve.

Tomorrow, I’ll return to my life as Kenzie Andrews, the team nurse dating two hockey players and finishing her internship.

After that, I’ll embark on a new path, where I’ll finally learn who Kenzie Sofiya Androsovs really is… and maybe… just maybe, she’ll flourish into her own Heartbreaker Queen.

SEMI-FINAL MADNESS

Absolute silence.

Never could I envision a sold-out stadium being rendered silent at the peak of a game, but here we all are.

Staring at Ace Harvey.
