“Give me a minute,” I groan.
This isn’t the way I imagined explaining my problems to Xandra. In fact, I didn’t want to tell her about it because that would be just burdensome for her.
This dizzy shit isn’t an easy fix, but damn.Having this happen is just embarrassing.
“Wyatt?”
I know she’s calling my name, but I just need to stay still and quiet until the spinning calms the fuck down. It feels like I’m on a merry-go-round, but its stop button malfunctioned, and you’re waiting for the operator to troubleshoot it all.
“Shit. Who can I call? Armani’s deadlifting and shit.”
I guess Oscar wouldn’t be too bad in seeing my deadbeat ass on the ground with towels everywhere versus anyone else.
This sucks.
“Hey! Please tell me you’re at the stadium. You are?! Where?! I need you here ASAP! Wyatt passed out. I don’t know! I just need help taking him to the locker room and cleaning this towel mess up. If we can avoid it, I don’t want anyone else to find out about it. One minute. Thank fucking God. Okay.”
I’m not sure how the conversation went, but a few seconds later, I hear Leo’s voice.
“Shit! He literally passed out.”
“I think he’s still there. Wyatt?” Xandra calls for me.
I manage to lift my hand in some direction and give a thumbs-up, but I put it back down because I’m still spinning, which is going to make me queasy soon if it doesn’t stop.
“He must be having a dizzy spell or something,” Leo announced.
Great. There goes keeping it to myself.
“Dizzy spell? Wyatt experiences vertigo?”
“I’m not sure. You’re going to have to ask him, but I’ve found him twice like this. Not necessarily passed out on the floor but resting on the bench and taking deep breaths until it passed. He didn’t like talking about it, so I didn’t push him to share, but maybe when he’s stressed and stuff, they’re more frequent.”
“Stress. What’s stressing him out?” Xandra’s oblivious.
“You guys did break up, didn’t you?”
“W-Well, yeah, but I didn’t think he’d take it so hard. I mean, I’m not important to him.”
God. Does she really think that way?
“I may be young, Mack, but I think Wyatt is madly in love with you,” Leo admits. “He’s just scared to give you his all.”
“Why?” She sounds frustrated. “What’s scary about giving me his all? He thinks I’ll love him less?”
Leo sighs before his voice dips so low, I barely catch it.
“He’s involved, Mack.”
“Involved as in… about what we’re going to discuss, involved?”
“Yes.”
I don’t know what they were going to discuss.
“Only, he’s been out of the game for a while because of an incident that happened. That’s all I can say. You’ll have to ask him that, but if you knew the truth, I think you’d understand his perspective better.”
Fucking Leo and his big mouth.
