“Get Mack comfortable. Kat brought all her stuff, so if she needs an IV, it’ll be best if she’s in bed.”

“She has a fever,” I voice while pacing around.

I forgot I do that…

“Can be taken care of,” Leo assures me. “Kat is fast as fuck. She’ll have her stabilized in no time. Just get her situated in a comfortable position. We’ll be there.”

“Door is open,” I declare and mutter, “Thanks.”

“You know I have your back,” Leo stresses. “See you shortly.”

Hanging up, I quickly run a bath.

I won’t leave her in it for long now that I know Katherine and Leo are close, but I need to warm her up. I don’t want her sitting in my wet jersey, but then again, I don’t like her not wearing it.Deciding to deal with that problem later, I strip her out of it with her bra and have her in my arms and into the bath.

My panic makes it easier to focus on doing the task at hand versus lusting over Kenzie’s body, but damn.

She’s a sight to see naked.

Wyatt is playing tic-tac-toe with these goods in his grasp.

Stupid.

By the time I’ve blown dried her hair, patted her down again, and put on the pajamas I grabbed from her place, Kat and Leo are here.

Tucking her into bed, Mittens jumps on the bed and sits next to Kenzie’s head in seconds, purring away.

I try not to panic because Kenzie hasn’t woken up once this whole time, but my irritability is showing enough for Katherine to notice.

“Relax big stuff,” Katherine announces. Feels weird to acknowledge her name when she goes through so many aliases. “I’ll take it from here.”

“She hasn’t woken up this whole time,” I note as she gets to work.

It takes her no time to find Kenzie’s vein and hook her up to an IV. She has different solutions hanging before she flicks at the chamber of a syringe and begins to conjure up some shit.

“With a fever like that, it’s not surprising. Her vitals are all over the place, so she may have had a panic attack or something. Adding her running from the hockey residence all the way over to here, exhaustion will take over.”

“I can’t believe she did that,” Leo groaned.

“We can do loads of things when we’re distraught and pissed off,” Kat notes.

“Will she be okay? Do we need to take her to the hospital?”

I’ll call an ambulance at this moment if I have to.

“Your bro gave me authorization to use my resources if I need to,” Kat reveals. “I like Mack. If she’s going to need further medical help, I won’t hesitate to use it.”

My phone begins to ring, the tone making me growl.

Kat and Leo pause whatever they're doing to look my way.

“It’s Winchester.”

“Lovely,” Kat sarcastically states. “Go deal with him before his cocky ass comes over here and becomes a hindrance.”

“I’m not go—”

“Oscar.” Leo’s seriousness draws my attention. “Winchester has been doing some seriously shady shit since becoming captain of the Saskatchewan Pincer Blades.”
