“Dammit, seventeen!”

“Really?” Oscar takes his cig between his fingers as he walks the few steps needed to land him in front of Leo. With one glance from head to toe, he shrugs. “You look thirty.”

“Ugh. Why does everyone say that?”

“Take it as a compliment,” Oscar encourages, but now his attention is on me.It only lasts five seconds before his eyes move further down past me.

I can’t help but look back, following his gaze until it lands on the final culprit who’s been the quietest of us all this whole while.

Winchester is literally standing there, silent as a mouse, but his expression is something I haven’t witnessed in a hot minute.

Jealousy.

Pure jealousy.

“What are you doing here, Winchester? I told you, I’m not doing shit tonight.”

“Why? ‘Cause you’re fucking Andrews now?”

Oscar doesn’t take offense to his words. Actually, he looks completely calm.

He always looks calm when confronting Winchester.

Almost like this is some sort of game for him.

“Trust me, Jayce. If I was fucking Andrews, I wouldn’t be leaving her place until tomorrow afternoon,” he begins as he walks past me until he’s facing the fuming captain in question. “You of all people know I like to fuck until dawn. Nice to be sweaty, physically spent, and watch the sunrise.”

“I wouldn’t know shit, fucker,” Jayce snaps and punches his chest. It doesn’t do anything to make Oscar waver. “I had to track you all the way here and you’re still being a stubborn dick?”

So, he came here to find Oscar? What does he possibly need from him that he’s that desperate to find him?

I was coming to notice that Winchester always needed Oscar for something, but never elaborated on what.

“Guess, you did.” Oscar looks like he doesn’t care. “I almost died earlier because you were too concerned about your dirty work than cared about my health. If it wasn’t for Andrews, who wasn’t even working because she was sick all day, I would have passed out and fucking died.”

That surprises all of us. Winchester’s eyes grow wide while Leo walks over to stand next to me.

“Wait, really? I saw Coach Johnson talking to the whole team earlier. Well, minus Jayce ‘cause he wasn’t there. Did it have to do with that?”

“Yup,” Oscar casually states, his eyes still glued to Jayce’s.

Something must have happened after their practice for them to carry such tension between each other.

Adding to what we just witnessed…

“Anyway, stop tracking me,” he tells Jayce. “You already know where I am. If I’m not at my place, the gym, or the stadium, I’m over here, or wherever Andrews is going to be chilling.”He moves to stand next to Jayce’s left side just to whisper in his ear.

“And when I’m with Andrews, I don’t want interruptions,” he stresses.

“You going to betray me for that cunt ass bitch?” Jayce snarls.

I’m going to say something, but Leo stops me, his hand landing on my chest.

One look his way and he gives me a stern ‘don’t’ look before we silently watch the spike of tension boiling between the two apparent ‘best friends.’

“That cunt ass bitch you love to refer to her as is Mackenzie Andrews, our team nurse, and the woman I’ve taken quite an interest in. I don’t care if you don’t like her, Winchester. Nor do I need your permission to date her. However, don’t bring loyalty into this bullshit. You and I both know, I’ll always aim to get you out of shit, but I’m certain if the roles were reversed, you’d never save my ass the way I’ve saved yours.”He turns his head to look forward.

“I’m not doing shit the rest of the week. Find someone else to do your dirty work until then. As you always say, I’m the douche you can replace in a heartbeat, right?” He glances back at Winchester who can barely keep still, he’s quivering with boiling rage.“Then replace me. There has to be someone better than my weak, gay ass.”
