“FUCK!” Maddox curses before he rolls them both over until he’s pinning Winchester beneath him and screaming, “GET OUT OF MY FUCKING WAY!”
I’ve never seen him so enraged.
“Are you stupid?!” Jayce exclaims. “This building is on fucking fire! You’ll di—”
One second, Winchester is talking, and the next, Maddox is punching the man with one solid hit to the face.
“GET IN MY FUCKING WAY AGAIN, AND I’LL KILL YOU!”
Winchester isn’t the only one who’s left absolutely speechless.
“I’D RATHER DIE IN THOSE FUCKING FLAMES THAN ABANDON MY MIKAYLA! YOU HEAR ME?” He points down at Winchester in that prime moment, his breath ragged while his body shakes uncontrollably. Then he’s up and running those final wide sprints that have him disappearing in the flames.
“Fucking hell,” Coach Johnson whispers, and he’s about to run forward, but Coach Cyrus stops him.
“Don’t, Isaac.”
“Our baby is in there!” he snarls.
“I trust in Maddox. He’ll get to her,” Coach Cyrus urges. “Trust him.”
“Dammit!! I should be let in! My girlfriend is in there,” Leo snaps.
“No one else is fucking going in there. I don’t give a shit who else is in there!” the man holding me back declares. His anger is making his grip even tighter on my arms, which makes me curse as I think of Oscar doing everything to find Muffin.
I grit my teeth and take a swift breath, staring at the burning building as tears stream down my face.
Fuck this shit. I’m not losing them!
“?????????!”
With a lift of my knee, I back kick the firefighter in the balls so hard he’s screaming and pushing me away as he grabs them in agony.
“Fuck!”
“Arrest me later!” I snap and dart away from three other officers who attempt to catch me.
“Fucking hell, Xandra!” Wyatt screams, but I’m rushing up the stairs, feeling the wave of heat hit me like a plague.
It doesn’t stop me from rushing out into the burning lobby, only to skid to a stop as I realize I don’t know which way I should go.
“Fuck. Which stairs? Which stairs?” The decision will determine whether I get to them fast enough or not, but my panic is cut off by the sight of something running toward me.
“MEOW!”
“MUFFIN!” I scream and race to the kitten before dropping to my knees as she jumps into my open arms.
“Meow!” She purrs while snuggling her head into my neck, the relief rushing through me growing as I catch onto the shadows running out of the flames and toward me.
“Oscar!” I’m fighting back more tears as I’m up and running the few steps to meet him.
“Kenzie! Why are you in here?” he snaps, completely out of breath and sweating buckets, but I realize why.
“Katherine?”
She can barely lift her eyes, but she manages to smile my way.
“Andrews. You… you’re crazy.”
