The result of whether this was a good idea or a big ass wasted expense would fall in Mickey’s hands.
“I absolutely love it.” She does another twirl while her hair bounces, thanks to the bountiful bounce of her curls, which gives her red hair so much more volume. “I hope it wasn’t too expensive.”
“Nothing is too expensive for our girl,” I emphasize while leaning further back in my seat so I can admire her deservingly.
My words make her cheeks flush with red before those glossy red lips curl upward.
“So, what adventure are we going on?” she wonders. “It has to be exciting for you to invite me on your only day off this week.”
She was right. This was the only day off we had this entire week. Since our grand first win, we’ve been cruising on loads of coffee and energy drinks to help us keep up with the crazy schedule we have in play.
Gym training in the morning, practice mid-afternoon, various interviews, charity meetings, school visits, and other social promotions. Anything to make Strattonville Vipers, the loving Canadian team that’s making the small town proud, the priority.
At least until the upcoming fundraiser ball where they can make even more connections and potential sponsorships.
Adding the fact we had three more games before then was something we were all trying not to freak over, but today really was the only day we had completely off without something going on.
I knew Mickey’s schedule was going to be just as hectic. Her internship didn’t just include assessing our team’s performance on the ice and during games, but there was a lot of paperwork and behind-the-scenes stuff she had to do with Dimitri.
Sometimes she got to work with Mack since the task didn’t involve “competition,” but Pincers’ Doctor was really butt hurt that Pincers weren’t getting the same spotlight.
Less spotlight means less limelight for him as a doctor. At least, that’s what Wyatt was mentioning the other day.
I didn’t know much about all that medical stuff—nor did I care if it didn’t involve Mickey—but I did know it’ll be tricky to get all of us together after today.
Have to make every minute count now.
“It’s very exciting,” I announce and offer my hand to her.
Her brilliant smile widens as she puts her hand in mine so I can pull her close to my seat. I was glad I took the doors off my Jeep for today’s ride. I wanted her to feel like we were going on a unique adventure.
For her to keep guessing exactly what we’re going to do until the very moment we reveal our motives.
“Are you excited?” I ask her and lean in close.
God, her perfume makes me want to groan and smell her for days.
Today’s aroma was a mix of lavender, vanilla, and rose, with a hint of rosemary.
A feminine scent that’s driving me wild right now.
“Very,” she purrs, making my cock grow hard at her taunting.
She knows the power she has over me.I bet she knows she can make all of us bow to her every whim if she wants.
“It’ll be just us?” she wonders out of curiosity while I let her slip from my grasp. She skips around my turquoise blue Jeep Wrangler, admiring the bright blue. She takes her time viewing the details while her hand trails along the surface that holds a hint of sparkle in its outer layer.
I got the baby wrapped a few years ago when I came home to visit, but she stayed in the garage until now. A quick wash and she looked brand new, which was what I was going for. I’m sure a few Pincers would assume I bought it with my advance.
The Pincers were still salty about that. That could be why they were so zoned during training and practice that they wouldn’t mingle with us. If they saw us coming in one direction, they would purposely turn around and go the other way to avoid any form of interaction.
Whatever made them focus and sleep at night was their prerogative.
“For now,” I encourage with a smirk of my own, my eyes trailing her movement until she’s back to face me. Then they lower to her plump lips, stealing my focus entirely, thanks to the bright shade of red.
I wonder if she knows just how good red looks on her.
“Ready to enjoy the drive?” I offer. “It’s not too long of a ride, but we never know with how traffic gets around the stadium.”
