He’ll cover up shit.

Moving feels like I’m floating, but I manage to get in the back with Dimitri.

He stares at me, a look I can’t read, but I ignore him.

He’s not important.

My girl is.

They got an IV in her, and she’s breathing a lot better with the mask on. She’s getting color back in her face, looking more flushed compared to how deadly pale she suddenly was when I caught her.

Everything escalated so quickly.

From saving that girl to passing out and needing urgent care.

“We’re in the ambulance, Maddox. Mikay is breathing better.”

Since when does this guy call her Mikay?

“They have a strong hunch its exhaustion matched with nerves. She was doing compressions for forty minutes straight.”

That has to be a lie.

Forty fucking minutes went by?

I’ve been there for more than two hours.

Nothing makes sense right now.

“Yeah, we’re heading to the nearest hospital. Yeah, Gardens. Okay… oh… alright. I’ll keep an eye on her as long as they allow. I’m gonna have to go back to move my car, but they want me to be checked out, too. I’m okay. Don’t tell James yet. I’ll keep you guys posted alright?”

He’s still asking all these questions, and the sound of his voice finally gets to me.

“Stop being a worried bull, O’Riley,” I snap. “She’ll be fine! Get off the fucking phone.”

Dimitri glares at me.

“He can be worried about HIS girlfriend, you know?” he bites back and fuck.

Does this gothic douche think he can fight me?

“Mr. Wilson?” One of the paramedics speaks up nervously. “Miss Johnson will be fine. She’s stable and will be given the best care. If you can make it down to the hospital, I’ll ensure to let the staff know if she needs to be admitted.”

Maddox thanks her before saying something to Dimitri. I don’t hear it because he takes it off the speaker.

I don’t care.

I said what had to be said to shut his worried ass off.

He never gave me that attention.

Only Mikayla gets the sweet Maddox who loves her to death.

My phone is vibrating, but I ignore it.

I just zone the world out because I’m done.

Done with all this madness.
